Like a lot of Minecwaft Youtubers.

You obviously don't watch Gothamchess for any sustained period of time.

He's anything but egocentric, he often gets nervous playing GM's in titled Tuesday and openly admits it, gave up playing over the board tournaments because the losses were frustrating him too much, he displays a lot of insecurities when playing players deemed better than him like nervous laughing and joking when he met Hikaru in one TT. Reads out hate messages incessantly about himself highlighting things from his hair to his looks to his build, an ego centric person wouldn't never draw attention to anything negative about themselves, you seem to have no sarcasm detector switched on whatsoever, his entire schtick is self deprecation. People either don't get out much if they actually think he's being serious in twitch streams when roasting viewers for sake of entertainment when he's only roasting those who are giving it to him anway. That and people being jealous of his huge success.

He also hasn't fallen off anyway, videos are getting half a million views +, and it's summer season in countries where he's most watched, people on holidays etc and still has good numbers.

Also think people feel safer watching nice, wholesome middle class folk like Eric Rosen, maybe the quieter, less sweary demeanor makes you feel calmer or something.

Magnus Carlsen has sadly fallen off the wagon several times.
