indeed. Weird. As an All-time fanboy, I've never heard anyone call him that (to his face). But if you're saying, "in reference to him", then I can say I've personally haven't heard such a thing. Just "Bobby".😎
Who (e.g., players, media) called Bobby Fischer "Fish" or Bobby "Fish"?
After Fischer became World Champion in 1972 and a match Fischer - Karpov was planned (but never took place), media of the Soviet Union headlined 'The karp will eat the fish'

Any specific player or media that is documented as calling him that?
Me. In my poem:
Bobby Fischer
Was a wizard.
Vivisected
Spassky's gizzard.
Won the title
Then went bonkers.
The Fish skedaddles,
Karpov conquers.
I know I have heard Fischer refer to someone as a fish but had no idea where he came up with it and have actually used the term myself down through the years. I know nothing about poker but that is apparently where he got that term.
