Who is better, Magnus Carlsen or Babe Ruth?

I've got to go with the Babe.  Just think of the combinations he could have played if the stadiums had artificial lighting in his day!

Considering the 1/10 chance against I'm guessing not.  Besides Babe Ruth was an elite even among professionals.  Handedness doesn't even matter that much above high school varsity level anyway. 

Seeing as how the Babe is sort of motionless right now, I'd have to go with Magnus.

Forks and skewers come more naturally to southpaws.

But tactics and calculation are left brain activities.  Endgame and non forcing and positional sacrifices however seem more like right brain activities.

In his career, spanning the years 1914-'35, Ruth played nearly 2700 games.  All those games and nary a loss to Capablanca, Alekhine, Lasker, or Euwe. 

I don't think Carlsen would have had much of a chance.

I think Carlsen's ascent to pop-culture name-dropping royalty needs to be stopped.
