The main goal of the game is still to capture the opponent's king, but the moves must be completed in a prescribed quantity of time. Capturing pieces is just a means to ending the game more quickly and easily but will otherwise not score any points (points are awarded only after a game ends in a win/loss or a draw on both ends).

I'm new to Chess.com and new to rapid chess i.e. 10min game. I wonder if anyone can let me know how the winner of a game is determined where there is no checkmate? I was playing again where I had captured far more of white's pieces and was threatening checkmate but white won. Is this because my clock ran out first? Thanks in advance.
