Who's better? Magnus or Hikaru?

Magnus Carlsen is generally considered to be the stronger chess player compared to Hikaru Nakamura. Carlsen has been the World Chess Champion since 2013 and is renowned for his deep understanding of the game, exceptional strategic skills, and ability to consistently perform at a very high level. Hikaru Nakamura, on the other hand, is also a highly skilled grandmaster and has been among the world's top players for many years, known particularly for his speed chess abilities and online presence. However, in direct comparison based on classical chess and overall achievements, Magnus Carlsen is typically regarded as the superior player.

magnus is obviously the goat. But Gary Kasparov is also very good
Kasparov was more dominant in his era than Magnus in his, and his era was almost twice as long.
You can argue that Magnus is better anyway, but "obviously" is not a strong argument.

Honestly Magnus Is The Greatest Chess Player Of All Time. Cus Look At His Games and look at Garry's hikaru and Fabiano games Magnus is super good but hikaru is a insane player aswell.

Both have played and beaten each other many times, and each have their own strengths. Hikaru is better on the clock and defensive strategies. Magnus is better with middlegames and endgames. I think Hikaru is better soley because i watch him and not Magnus.

I think both of them are good. In elo magnus is more better but i think they're both good at chess. So what do you guys think abt my idea? Have a nice day!

in the sense of hikaru vs magnus, just generally magnus is better and I think most of the chess community agrees. But the idea of "Garry vs Magnus" is more interesting. The truth is, magnus is most likely in terms of raw play better than garry, but thats really only because of everything going on in modern chess tbh. The finding of stronger engines and new openings and theory in Magnus' era just pale in comparison to Garry's era, where computers were weaker and new openings and theories being still in development. In my opinion, although Garry is probably the worse player skill-wise, his era and dominance in his time was unmatched and clearly would still hold up as a super-GM even at modern times. Magnus is still building his legacy tho, so who knows. Maybe his era will even be better than Garry's. Time will tell.
