Why am I so much better in puzzles than in game?

I got 43 in survival puzzle rush, which I think I went up to 2400 rating for puzzles. And right now I am struggling to even get to 1100 rating in blitz....

It's a lot easier to find a move or line when you know there is something there to find than it is to maneuver into those positions and recognized them to calculate the variations when they show up in a game.

Sometimes, you try to find tactics in an actual game when there is not even any benefit to fit. A tactic which you think should work could simply be a blunder down the line.

I believed you have answered your own question. You’ll have to stop playing blitz if you want to progress. I’m speaking from experience and was even working with a    coach on stripping bad habits developed from speed chess.

I would suggest you start doing the rated puzzles as they are a better measuring stick on your development.

I routinely get to 40 survival rush drunk but hesitant touch a 2500 rated puzzle sober.

How much time do you spend on solving a puzzle?
How much time do you spend on a move playing?
The time per move in a game should be more than the time per puzzle, as in a game you do not know if there is a tactic or not and if there is you do not know for which side.

a 71 year old man once hitt 2750 free throws in a row but he was not in the NBA. free throws are a part of basketball but are not basketball. figuring out checkmates after staring at one position for five minutes is not chess.
