Why am I winning more with black than white?

Conventional chess wisdom is that playing with white is an advantage yet since I've joined this site I've found I'm getting better results with black. Anyone else find this?

Then as white open 1 a3 to win more.

It’s since you’re a beginner. Your opponents don’t understand wielding initiative as white so you capitalize on their mistakes. Beginners like yourself should always work on winning more games as white to develop your understanding of initiative before reaching the intermediate level.

I'm not a beginner. Just new to this site but thanks for the advice.

Not a beginner? Look:
Puzzle Score = 1000
Puzzle Rush = 23

You have a long way to go before you’re an intermediate like me. Look:
Puzzle Score: 2700
Puzzle Rush = 42

looking at your games its more due to random than anything else. seen you lose as white in games where you were ahead.

at your level most people don't know how to attack properly and as black you get a more defensive position and that might actually favor you more than trying to attack your opponent.

I also had the same thing happening early on, I was really comfortable playing caro-kann, and wasn't as comfortable in my E4 repertoire.

Just chance or maybe what openings you study. Ignore the people saying you suck, many of them are worse than you (I probably am to be honest). Black really doesn't have a massive disadvantage, and with the sample size of the entire chess.com playerbase, someone will end up winning with black more often than white, and many of them will make a forum about it. Once you get a larger sample size of games, you will probably get more even percentages of wins between black and white.

To make a boxing analogy; you are a better counter puncher.

at lower ratings playing as black is in fact easier, cause you just hunker down, defend everything, play passive antichess and wait for your opponent to blunder while trying to attack, and at low level no one really knows how to attack and so blunders are pleny, especially favourable plays are the caro kann and berlin

I'm a basic member so only get 3 puzzles a day and 1 go at puzzle rush. My rapid rating is currently 1414 which is 400 above yours so 🤔

Thank you for the kind and constructive reply. You may well be right and it'll even out over time.

Thank you for taking the time and effort to look at my games. You may well be on to something.

My win/loss ratio playing the French Defence as black is 50%/43% so I PREFER to play black. As others have said, I think it’s because I hunker down, play defense, and wait for a mistake. And I don’t think I suck, 1060 rating in rapid, 1220 in Daily.

Lear an opening to win more with white pieces.

Stockfishdot1

I win much more with black than white. I think part of it is that people in my range generally tend to attack, attack, attack and forget about fundamental things like protecting the king or avoiding blunders.

I also can become over-confident as white when I'm ahead and wind up blundering my queen...

Just as we should learn from our mistakes, we should learn how to defend/defeat the opponent's strengths.
