Why are 900 rated players are better than 1200 - 1300 players

Why are 800 - 1000 players are way stronger than 1200 - 1300 players ? like in the 1200 hundreds it was pretty easy to win but after some time I started getting matched against 800 - 1000 players I stared losing more and more . now I am stuck at 800 . 800 - 1000 players know all the theories and somehow always know the best moves against every gambit or opening I try to play . can anyone give me some tips .

They are not better. A lot of players at that level are going for a "trick", a simple pattern.

If you fall for it then they will win. NO player in 1200 will go for a trick. They know that this is not the way to play chess... and win against players on their level.

I give you an example: players on that level will sacrifice a bishop for the opportunity to destroy your kings castle.

Then they will pose some threads and on that level this will work. The other player will panic and do some stupid moves... moves he would never do in a normal match. But with time pressure he will fall for that.

The way to win on that level: stay calm. As you can see on my level I am "stuck" on that level as you. I played a lot 1200 chess in the last months and "forgot" to focus on simple traps or stupid moves that "threaten" me as a player on 1200 will not do that. So you don't waste your time on thinking about it... and the patterns you need to react to it.

Once you manage to remember the patterns you will climb soon. Just keep playing and don't rage if you fall for a simple 2 moves trap. No worries.

For me I am not a player that is good enough to focus on both playstyles... so I am a very limited player... but I enjoy playing on 1200 most cause the games there good games.

800-1000 cannot be better than 1200-1300. If they were, they'd have a better rating. There can be an occasional 900 player who is actually a 1200 after a few drunken sessions, but on average - no.

Because by looking at your games we can see that that was your true level all along.

You play long time controls, but you don’t use the majority of the time often, which means that your are effectively playing speed chess even in long time controls.

Consequently you aren’t adequately cautious to avoid blunders.

Your losses are your own doing.

Slow down and think, check for blunders each move, do more tactics puzzles, and watch your rating skyrocket.

I’m new, but I’m finding the same thing is true of many of the bots. Just because you beat a bot once and moved on to another one doesn’t mean you are forever immune to that previous bot’s tricks. You’re just adapting your play to whatever works against your current opponents.

thanks for the advice I appreciate it . I will try to improve my games and try to learn about tricks and traps so I can counteract against it . also what would be the fastest way learn about the traps . or will I have to learn every single gambit and traps in them ?

The fastes way is to read books about those traps and play the puzzles.

In fact the puzzles will teach you the patterns you have to go for and you can expect the players on that level will go for.

Double Towers on the line, forks with knights and Bishops, tricking your opponent to get that pawn trading it off for a bad position.

On 1200 no one will fall for a fork trap. You don't even expect it from your opponent nor are you allowed to try this on your opponent as he will try to exploit your simple "trick" to his advantage.

Many people with ratings 1000 - 1300 cheat. I dont know why particulary in this range but its true. Many sandbaggers also

IDoNotKnowHowToName

Maybe someone chose beginner or start to play chess when they signed up.

Carwasher_Superdrunk

Idiots, we ALL know the answer to this: it is because chess.com rewards sandbagging. Sandbagging makes it way easier to win arena tournaments and progress in leagues thanks to the foolhardy decision to

1) let anyone with an email account play in an arena and
2) award additional league points for arena wins

Sandbagging has always been with us but it got much worse after leagues were implemented with additional points awarded for arena streak wins. Putting your heads in the sand and pretending that there is no problem will not make it go away and until this problem is addressed the ratings will be a mess.

How idiotic of you.

Magnus said "any game between players under 1800 is decided by random blunders almost every move." Basically this means that you can't really expect much more from a 1200 then an 800, the only real difference between them is that somehow along the chaos the 1200 wins more games

Average game of 1500 rapid:

orlock20

800 is the starting rating point even for a GM making a new account.
