Why are both 1 minute games and 2 minute games called "Bullet"?

Please JEAR me out, fam. There is a vast difference between 1 0, 1 1, and 2 0 (let alone 2 1). The time control is part of the game, but affects the game more and more with shorter time controls. I would contend that even faster time controls like 30 seconds and 10 seconds are completely different games from "standard" 1 minute.

1 0 is surely a completely different game from 2 0, different strategies, different ideas, et cetera. Yet they are lumped together as the same. I don't understand why it is like this here and on most sites (..oops, excuse me, chess.com is the ONLY chess site on the internet, I misspoke fam, ctfu). Also, I continue to maintain that Lightning is the proper term for 1 0 chess.

Anyone have any ideas? Please discuss happy.png

Why is blitz 3-10 minutes, TOTALLY DIFFERENT! Why are 15 10 and 45 45 lumped together into "rapid"? Totally different! But I can see why @rjbuffchix is lumped together with non-English speaking people, at least not those with good grammar.

No one asked about blitz aka schitz chess. I COULDDDDDDD care less about that, because what's a grammer? Stay on topic folks, please!

Bump. For absolutely no reason.

I SUCK at 2:1... I am much stronger at 1:0.  I would lose 150+ pts in bullet if I switched from 1:0 to 2:1, completely different games IMO.  I succeed at bullet mostly because I can flag my opponents from worse positions, this doesn't seem to work as well with an increment.

Blitz literally means lightning. Calling 1+0 lightning would be confusing and strange.
