Why are there no "Copy PGN" and "Copy FEN" buttons?

I find it strange that almost all web sites don't provide "Copy PGN" and "Copy FEN", instead they show PGN/FEN in plain text like this:

But why to show plain text? Who's gonna read it? All I need in 99.9% of cases is to copy it.

Why not to have just buttons "Copy PGN" and "Copy FEN" allowing copy in one click. Traditional software makes it the right way:

Chessbase

Aquarium

Because PGN and FEN are in plain text to start with so that the standard copy/paste is all that's required.

You do have choices in whether or not to include the time stamps.

When I take the data to another program like Arena, I just paste it in. No file required.

Why make something more complicated than necessary?

Now:

1. Click on Share icon

2. Click into PGN/FEN text

3. From here it depends on platform: on Windows it will select the whole text; on iPhone it won't, you have to long-tap and choose Select All

4. Copy (Ctrl+C on Windows)

With "Copy PGN" and "Copy FEN" icons that are small and fit on same screen with the board:

1. Click the Copy icon

Which method is more simple?

Method #1 takes only a few seconds on Windows 10 or Android.

You have already wasted enough time on this thread to cover the time needed for dozens of downloads.  But maybe you are downloading thousands of games? Otherwise, it seems like it's not worth it.

Any change here brings out the threats and curses from those with old iPhones that can't handle the new code.

Yes I download quite often and would prefer it to be done in a fraction of a second instead of a few seconds. Hopefully chess.com development team is attentive to UX (user experience)

Nice Idea!

It'd be a security risk for browsers to have free access to your clipboard. Therefore, no copy button.  The examples you provides are not web but local programs.

Thank you - finally I have an explanation why it is done this way. Although searching programming resources shows that it is recognized as a limitation and there are ways around it.
