Why are women so bad at chess?

They are not bad, just not as good. Just like men are not bad at cooking, we are just not as good.

Females tend to not be so interested in chess, just like makes tend not to be so interested in nursing.
Only after interest does hard work to improve follow, so we can start there. The more the person cares, the harder he/she will work and dedicate time to it.

i might be able to figure this one out. lets try something simpler first, do elephants have long noses to cover the distance between water and their face ?

We can ask Hou Yifan about that? She is rated only 2651 and in the last Grand Prix between 2700+ men she lost only one game out of nine! Apparently she can do better...the OP is right.

There's a video on YouTube of an interview Fischer did when he was around 14 or 15. In it he says woman are awful at chess and goes on to say they belong in the home. It sounded really bad even for back then, but I guess a little more socially acceptable to say because of the times. These days it's completely inappropriate to say.

Best chefs ? - men
Best drivers ? - men
Best chess players ? - men
Most successful bosses? - men
Scientists, doctors, lawyers etc.... list goes on MEN
I think we got the idea

@theportalgalaxy:
Who says, that women are bad at chess??? Go and play Hou Yifan... and come back when you win.

all i'd have to do is play fools mate apparently.
Try it and tell us when succeeded...

The thing is, if you ask that question with your rating... no one expects any movement.

shut up troll; your rating is 1200; top women players all at or above 2600; https://ratings.fide.com/top.phtml?list=women;
not as many women play.
and no, that is not because of "sexism;" merely because not as many women CHOOSE to play. and no that is NOT because women have better things to do. they just choose to do different things.
this topic is tired. has been cussed and discussed; case closed

I think the Polgar sisters prove otherwise, but then again I am nada misogynist. So I may have a slanted view. I think women have as much ability as man to achieve greatness in chess.

The true answer has certainly not been determined by science. Obviously, the Polgar sisters, etc. show that women are capable of playing at a high level.
Some claim the societal influences affect the level of play.
Some claim different hormonal makeup affects the quality of play.
Some claim the fact that men tend to use a smaller part of their brains for most actions than women, based on studies of brain activity when reading, thinking deeply, playing games, etc., and that they become something like an "idiot savant" (or whatever the politically correct term is now) who excels in a specific area because his brain activity is focused in the part of the brain most important to the activity.
In other words, we don't know. We guys do know it doesn't score any points with women to point it out!
