I haven't won a game in a month even though I play almost every day.

There could be a lot of variables, here are some:

1. You are playing at a level you cannot sustain

2. You are making mistakes and are not playing well enough because you don't have good consistency

3. You are not in the best shape to play and because of this you lose

There are some factors to take into account but to look at this in a straightforward point of view, either you are not consistent or you are not on the right level.

If it is with consistency then that can be fixed, however if you are not a 1600 truly then some problems can occur.

What i suggest is that you play unrated games and then test out your mettle against lower rated opponents on a unrated format to see what can be improved in your game if you don't want to lose rating points. This method is absolutley fine as there is nothing to lose but everything to gain once you play unrated and play to win.

Hopefully this was helpful @LittleFishie

Notwithstanding the many excellent points in post #5 above, your last game seems to have been on June 7. As we are now approaching mid-August, I'd have to say you haven't won any games in the last month is because you have not played any! At least, none that show on your Profile Page. Good luck either way. happy.png

You've played 74 games online, that's not a lot to go off of.  Try doing puzzles, they get harder the more you solve correctly give them some time to try and solve completely instead of getting impatient like me and guessing.  Also, play longer games to give yourself time to think and try to come up with plans, and not blunder or make silly mistakes, and then look at your games afterwards and see what you did wrong.  It doesn't always seem like the most exciting thing, but I think that is one of the ways strong players got better.  Hope that helps!

This guy's vidoes helped me a lot after I went back and watched them again after a few years

something else is bugging you and quite honestly players are much stronger today than they were 20 years ago - set a small goal and know a mountain is climbed one step at a time

I think maybe you're too distracted. I'm sort of having the same problem (I'm using a different website to play chess, not chess.com). Once I win 5 or whatever games in a row, I lose. But I have some advice.

1. You must calculate thoroughly and make sure you are not playing a blunder

2. Take time to calculate each move, do not rush and play fast (Don't play too slow tho)

3. Do not overwork yourself. If you are tired, take a break and once you feel refreshed, play again

4. You can try use The Pomodoro Technique

5. If you still can't win, you should do more tactics and puzzles.

I hope these help but if not please tell me tq

what pomodoro technique? never heard of it
