why do people cheat?

why do they do it why why why.. whats the psychology behind it? don't they know they are already weak? dont they know opponents already notice it? who they think they are fooling?

put everyone aside, a cheater already knows he is cheating himself.. by doing that he is already accepting that he is a loser.. and then he thinks he won??

what kind of mindset is that?

why would it be locked, i'm not talking about a spesific person.

I'm talking about a chess phenomenon as to why people choose to do it, since it has no logic at all when you come to think of it.

a cheater knows he is cheating, opponents sees and feels it.. so who is being fooled here? more importantly how can it be satisfying, since you are already accepting the truth that you are already weak by doing that..

this is a scientific, and a philosophical question.. can't we discuss and share opinions?

Unfortunately the Twitch chess craze has brought videogamers into the game en masse. That's a community with a huge % of cheaters.

For absolutely any reason, including believing others cheat so they will cheat a little bit to "even the odds", stuff like that. Videogame cheat sites which rent cheats for real $$ use excuses such as this... like, "everyone else cheats, so you can't win even with your high skill, so you need the best cheats to even the odds and then your skill will prevail again".

Etc.

Why? Low self esteem fueled by pride, arrogance, and an inability to accept the potential humility of losing.

Lol no, people won't know their opponent is cheating until you press the game review button (or atleast in my rating range). Whenever chess.com tells me an opponent has been banned, I'd usually be surprised. And knocking some sense in them would be impossible, they are just like the people who cheat in exams, if you are a student and tell them to not cheat they would just laugh it off, the only way to correct them is tell the teacher, which in this case would be to report.

That's literally cheating if you are getting external help from anybody.

And especially your sir has helped you in rated games, that is considered as cheating.
