You lost your first game. Try a second one.

  • Don't open with 1 d3.
  • The setup with your pawns on c4, d3 and e4 is known as the Swiss Cheese opening. Want to know why?
  • It's hard to see what you were after with 7 Nd4. It dropped your queen.
  • A few moves later you lost both your rooks too.
So I understand why you may not like chess.com so far. I encourage you to try some of the free courses here on Chess Mentor (Lessons) and to keep playing.

Is that it? I had fun because of the community (Way back when). Of course, things are much quieter now, but I still like the site. Try themes if you haven't already.

brand new, eh?

ok. well. on HERE there are trolls as far as the eye can see- but most of the chess.com members are worthy adversaries  (that come in every ratings).   24/7 you can quickly get a game with an opponent of nearly equal strength and in a time control you prefer.

there is also quite a lot hidden community contained within chess.com's groups.  get a thirst for regularly playing chess and start making a habit of showing up; and you will get the invites...

there's (as they heavily advertise) the chess improvement tools- the mentor, the tactics trainer,etc... its good, its not for everyone, and not the only way to improve.

I like it here.

BTW, that was good analysis from a strong chess player.  there's lots of advice on how to improve in chess (in posts to the forums). some of it was just given, do a look around the forums- and read up some.

it will help.

You are probably discouraged about your results but I looked at one recent blitz game and you did a lot of good things. https://www.chess.com/live/game/1833218381?username=spiritanimalfox

You had a won game early on. You could have won your opponent's queen on move 9 and 10 by just attacking it with your bishop. You could have also easily won a knight for your b pawn (or gotten an extra queen) with 10 bxa6 instead of b6. You were easily winning as late as move 22 (when you dropped your queen).

Take a look. I think you need more time to see these things than you get in a blitz game. Why not try slower time control games?
