I like ches because it's a great game. It makes you think, and that trains your brain? Also it's a great thing to spend your time with. And I just simply love chess!

Chess is an enjoyable waste of time.

i enjoy all the srategy that goes into it and how it trains one's mind to be able to think ahead better. i can't tell you how much better i've gotten at "well if option A happens, then option B to option C happens or option B to option 1" and that sort of thing.

I like figuring out problems and chess offers different levels of problems for people of all skill levels -- whether it is a combination attack using multiple pieces, a fork, or a discovered check.  Because of this, chess just might be one of the few games where everyone gets to have an "ah-ha!" moment, regardless of how good or bad you are.  Perhaps that is why it is so rewarding at different levels.

I get bored of things very easily.  Chess has so many possibilities that I'll never come across the same board twice in my life time.  Plus, it's cheap and easy to set up.  It's just a really good, practical game.

It is fair. Allow me to expound...

1. Both players begin with exactly the same army. They have exactly the same opporunity to win or lose.

2. It has no physical requirements, including age. It is impossible to tell by looking at someone whether they can play chess well. Have you ever had your ass handed to you by a kid 20 years your junior? I have and it's humbling.

3. It has no economic requirements. Rich, poor, or in the middle... it doesn't make any difference. A rich man can lose to a poor man or vice versa. Try competing in drag racing with a small budget and see how far you get.

4. Nothing is left to chance. No dice. No wheel to spin. No cards to shuffle.

And let's face it: it's just a beautifully elegant game. The closest that man has come to perfection is 90 feet between bases and chess.

I know what to do to improve my chess rating, but i am not doing it.Just it goes like a gamble. But you can see from great players matches, that there is always a better choice . If practiced, we can use it in real life also

There is something about chess that is unlike almost all other games; that is, you just can't stop thinking about it.  I go to bed many nights and in my head I have a chessboard and an unfinshed game.  And sometimes that is just as enjoyable as if I were to fall right to sleep:)  I would guess that it is very uncommon for people to become bored with chess, especially if they understand how complex the game really is.
