Why doesn't chess.com work when I use an adblocker?

When i block ads with the kaspersky protection extension - link - https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/kaspersky-protection/ahkjpbeeocnddjkakilopmfdlnjdpcdm
it shows a blank page
That can only mean that Chess.com is just one big ad. ;-)

Oh, sorry, I missed to see that. ( I was too lazy to read till the end of the message.)

For a serious response - I don't know anything about that particular extension. I prefer to use uBlock Origin in combination with NoScript.

I've been using uBlock Origin (the best adblocker IMO) for years and never had any issues on chess.com. I prefer it over Adblock Plus and once I swittched to uBlock Origin, I never needed to try out other adblockers. Maybe you should give it try.

Yep, what WhiteDrake said. You don't really need to use NoScript. In fact, if you don't know what you're doing, NoScript will drive you crazy, lol. Just try uBlock Origin by itself.

Chess.com gets ad revenue to keep up with the number of unsubscribed accounts would be my guess?
I would happily view ads here if it weren't for two big problems:
1) There are so many ads that the ads sap a huge amount of my available bandwidth. Some ads are OK, but it gets ridiculous.
2) Malvertising is a real security problem that I don't want to expose myself to. The site uses a third-party ad server to serve ads here. The third-party ad server is supposed to vet the ads that they deliver, but often they don't do a good enough job of it. Malicious ads periodically get through and can get you infected. (Some malvertising ads don't even require that you click on anything.) Rather than deal with this problem head-on, Chess.com has decided to bury its head in the sand and hope that it won't happen. When it does inevitably happen, they say that you can "report bad ads" and get a bit of free membership. Two problems with that approach: 1) How does a person know which of the ads is bad? (You obviously know that an ad is bad if it's in bad taste, p*rnographic, etc, but if it's malvertising, you probably won't have a clue.) 2) The "reporting bad ads" approach is closing the barn door after the horse is out. The damage has already been done.
So, thanks, but no. I will continue using an ad blocker here until the site decides to address these problems. (And my guess is that they never will, because the money is too good the way it's set up now.)

Yeah, uBlock Origin by itself is sufficient but one has no idea how much Javascript crap is out there on the internet before they try out No Script (But I prefer my sanity so I'm not currently using No Script in my browser.)

I have a diamond membership, and use an adblocker and script blocker, and the site works fine for me.

Yeah, I listen to Steve Gibson's security podcast (Security Now). More than once he's opined that if you try to disable javascript, most web sites are now simply unusable. I agree...

NoScript can be a fun challenge. You go to a new web site and find that NoScript has blocked 12, or 15, or 25 scripts. Then you start the guessing game - Which scripts are absolutely needed to view the site, and which scripts are just bloat (or worse)?
It's loads of fun! :-)

That's a great podcast! I've been listening to it for a few years now

okay, well this was hilarious...

Maybe because chess.com uses pop ups to ask people to be payd users.
I think you can add chess.com to the addblock ignore list.
To me, adds are shown when I am not logged.
There are also some pop ups to ask people to be payd users.
