Why is Carlsen so good and the rest of us so bad?

Magnus Carlsen, at his peak was seen completely violating strong chess players, but now has lost some of his colour, allowing the young generation to step up in the game of chess

I don't think so what’s happening is that Carlsen has simply gotten bored of slow chess.
He's probably also bored of winning and not finding any serious competition, so it's only logical that his level has dropped.
For example, in the world of tennis, when Djokovic had Nadal and Federer as rivals, they pushed him to become a better player every single day. Carlsen hasn’t experienced anything even remotely similar.
The only somewhat serious rival Carlsen has had is Caruana, and even Caruana eventually stepped away from the competitive scene as well.
I think it was a major mistake by FIDE not to accept Carlsen’s requests to change the classical world championship format by making the time controls faster.
Personally, I’d like to see the world champion decided in a match of 24 rapid games (25 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move), where the first player to reach 12.5 points wins the match and is crowned classical world chess champion.

age ruin every mind over 30 y old
over 40 the degradation it is 5x faster
Botvinnik became world champion when he was 38, and held the title until he was 52.
Or you can look at Anand. Or Korchnoi.
Magnus isn't fading away because of his age of 35, but because he lost interest. When he finds some spark of enthusiasm in himself (rarely), he is still pretty good, like at that recent 960 tournament he won.
In reality, Carlsen is not as human as he seems. In secret, he is an entity that has taken the form of a chess player.
All other players are humans trapped in a cycle of mediocrity that we cannot break.
