Why is it okay for Masters or above to smurf and play rated games on low elo accounts?

I am only talking about Rated games.

What is the motivation for an, example, IM,  to log into a secondary account rated 1300, and play rated games and crush his opponents?    How is this okay?   Why would the IM do this, and why would it be allowed?  To ruin the matchmaking system like this, ruin the experience for other players.

Again, I am only talking about Rated games.      I don't care about smurfing for unrated.

Smurfing isn't allowed but they can do a speed run account if it's approved by staff.

The answer is chess.com is private company and if it makes money them money then they don't care.  The streamers are the real clowns I need to "speed run" for content.  Which translates too "I want to get payed to smurf on noobs in a game all day".  You know its like the difference between prostitution and porn  if there is a camera on you and people like to watch then its ok.  They do get the elo back as if that matters

Same reason why it's okay for Magnus to act the way he did lately.

Too large to fail, so rules don't apply.

I assume you mean streaming players doing 'Speedruns" or educational content for online.  John Bartholomew did that many years ago, but in his case he didn't use a separate account.  When you accepted the game you could see you were a 1000 playing a 2300 or 2400.  The videos of it are VERY good educational content for lower rated players.  And nobody could lose rating points in his because they were so low rated they could do nothing but win.  In his case, he also notified every player after the video was uploaded that the game video was on his channel ,and that you could go check it out.

In the case of "Speedruns" by Daniel Naroditsky for instance,  the points you would "Lose" are awarded back afterward and you're told about it.  He's not "Smurfing" in the traditional sense. Go watch the videos on Danya's youtube channel and tell me it's not some of the best educational content out there.  I watch every one and they're great! You can't help but learn things from them.  Especially true on the latest one that's 10 and 15 minute games.  Some of the videos with the analysis afterward are an hour and fifteen minutes long.  He explains every detail of the games.

Are their opponents given the choice on whether or not they want to waste their time being prey to an IM?

Are their opponents informed of the secret so that they won't be frustrated by the experience?

Do their opponents get refunded their ELO for playing an unfair match?

All good questions.

They're not notified, but the reason for the approval is so refunds can be given when the speedrun is done.

Dubiously shoehorning this in shows you have an axe to grind. Take your inferiority complex elsewhere.

Another thread where some malcontent complains about elitism. This is what clicktivism has given us, everyone is on a crusade. I care as much about what high profile 'streamers' do as I do about assorted celebrities' insincere views on social matters. In the grand scheme of things, this has a negligible impact on your (ultimately pointless) ELO so stop raging against the system. We do not live in a perfect meritocracy and never will, and there will be times in life when you benefit from that inherent unfairness.

malcontent, good word

They should be allowed to do that - that way lower-rated players can learn.

I recently played a 2200 that way and managed to win about 25% of games.
Free training with a pro - rare opportunity.

So zone at what rating do I get to smurf on noobs to help them play I'm interested in helping 400s learn with my 1500 skills.  Not like they have a opt into the smurfs pool guess we should assume every 400 playing a causal game online really wants to play hikaru.  There is only one reason he gets to do it and I cant he makes chess.com money plain and simple.  Private business can do whatever it wants but there is nothing fair about it just pr spin so they can keep making content.  On the other hand plenty of people using remote desktop to web browser farms vpns and weird browsers etc I mean if i really wanted to stomp noobs i could just got play 5 year old's on coolmathgames.com.  Never goign away tho streamers love getting payed to seal club its their fav

They use speedruns to sell chessable opening courses.

I try to understand what you might mean, but I fail miserably.

goenogambit

i find those speedrun accounts a disgrace.. disrecpectful to players. imagine being destroyed by a equal rated player.. you would make decisions to go back to train basics..

I can make mistakes and get destroyed by equal rated players too.  What's the difference?  I don't whine about it, I try to learn from it.  I think it would be awesome to catch one of these players and get destroyed, and then have my points given back AND I get a top GM to do an analysis of MY game on YT (or where ever), FREE!

What are their hourly rates anyway?  Seems like a great deal to me.

cokezerochess22

Great since its such a great deal for you there should be an opt in button for people like you who want that and everyone else can play without getting smurfed on not that its ever gonna happen.  I personally think i would enjoy it too but only if i knew so  I could bm them and trolling them and not play chess because if they can waste my time think Only seems fair that I waste theirs back I'm not getting paid.

Kowarenai

if you meant alternate accounts, they are allowed if specially permitted by staff

same applies to speedrun accounts for example i was permitted this stream alt account

@BlitzWizard94 which is also the name of my brand

cokezerochess22

I actually don't have a problem with this as your focused on your stream when playing and it will represent your own strength but guys like hikaru playing 400s then restarting a new one as soon as they start to lose is just smurfing they could do any content they want these guys want to seal club.  I'm sure its great for him he gets to dump on noobs all day never lose and get payed for it.
