why is so bad to smoke for a chess player?

DrFrank sounds like the sort of dude Trump needs for his health care plan.
I think Trump is scum. But in regards to the health care plans I am more extreme than Trump. I think the health care plan should be abolished altogether. From a practical point of view we are seeing the cost of health care escalating more and more each year because the drug companies keep coming out with more and more expensive drugs and they keep inventing diseases that they use to sell their expensive drugs. How long will it be before the entire US is bankrupt on the health plan alone? And those who smoke get the most expensive diseases, cancer, heart disease and more and you can bet they alone are sufficient to bankrupt the US. I am 74 years old, I haven't seen a doctor is 20 years and use no drugs. My secret? I don't smoke, drink or use drugs. And I use food supplements and vitamins to stay healthy. Those who smoke are not only damaging their own health and shortening their own lives but also bankrupting me because the government is taxing me to pay for their diseases. If there were no health care plan and we were all responsible for our own health costs maybe people who smoke and drink would be more careful about what they did since not only would they have to pay for their cigarettes they would also have to pay for the drugs that keep them alive. With the health care plan we now have people do what they want knowing that the drug companies will come out with new drugs to keep them alive and the government will pay for them.

there should be an official rule about NOT speaking of "the idiot who shall NOT be named"...

the idea to gauge people for money so they can attempt to fight disease and pain is a horrible one. in the end it really matters little who's fault that is.
I'm at heart a libertarian and I think its ridiculous to try to exactly prescribe how a random stranger shall live his life.
if he want to burn the cancer stick, and go through all the agony of a premature bout of cancer---
the thing about it is. that eventually, even given a great lifestyle he would probably succomb to cancer anyways. I've heard it said, that the rate of cancer is dramatically More than it used to be in other generations because of revolutionary cures and immunization against infectious diseases that killed the vast percentage of poorer people in historical time. People living long and living through heart attacks = a huge increase in cancer. even after cancer sticks got unmasked and is now used by a small percentage of people (at least in America)...
so with that said, whats the proof that a cancer stick has a health care cost to society itself? does anyone have hard science to proof it.
and just as importantly, can you really put a price on freedom?

I agree with you. the government should not be interfering with people's lives, especially where health care is involved. One of the big causes of cancer is fluoridation of water, this is something that has been proven in court. Yet we continue to do this although water fluoridation is no longer done in Europe. In many instances the things that "doctors" say are good for you actually do more harm than good. There is evidence that all of these vaccines that children are forced to take have resulted in an increase in autism. And now some states are passing laws saying that we cannot refuse to allow the state to inject us with their poisons. If you are seeking specific facts about all the harm that "doctors" do to us I suggest you check out Dr. Mercola, he has a great website http://www.mercola.com. I agree with the Libertarians and more and more people are starting to become Libertarians also. Just look at the election results, we see that Gary Johnson, the Libertarian candidate came in third. If he had the financial support that the other 2 candidates had, he would have won easily.

so true.
thanks for the name. I think the "cost of freedom" is perhaps one of the great debates we will have in our time.
I don't want to push the topic though. we are too close to forbidden topics already.

I would treat what's on Dr Mercola's site with a cup of salt. I was reading something on there about statins - all seemed very reasonable until I read this: "Another strategy that can help reduce blood viscosity is Earthing or grounding—the act of walking barefoot on the earth. The theory is that when you walk barefoot on the earth, it allows for the transfer of free electrons from the earth into your body, via the soles of your feet. It mediates inflammation in your body by improving the zeta potential—the pulse capacity of your red blood cells—which also helps reduce blood viscosity"
Made me chuckle anyway.

I am always very cautious about those that exist Outside the medical establishment.
while its perfectly reasonable to question the dogma on modern medicine, there are some real nuts, quacks, and BSers in the world of "alternative medicine"

It's amazing how tolerant pretty much everyone was of tobacco smoke even a decade or two ago. It never bothered me back then even though I've always been a non-smoker. Nowadays, between the smell and the smoke, I have a hard time being around heavy smokers. What a change.

its bad to smoke at chess cos you got to go outside to do it and its cold or raining and thats just summer , i still do it tho hands cusped to get warm of the ciggy muttering axb5 cxd6

Smoking cigarettes is the worst thing anyone can do. More poeple die from tobacco than from heroine. I want to stay alive as long as possible so that I can play as many chess games as possible. That's the real reason I don't smoke, drink or take drugs. And grounding is not so crazy as it may sound. The human body has free radicals in it that causes damage. Free radicals are electrically charged particles. Perhaps walking barefoot on the earth neutralizes those particles.

I have to say this. One good thing about tobacco, it does not make the smoker go insane and do insane actions. As for alcohols and illegal substances, an intoxicated loser would hit his opponent with the chessboard or stab with the bishop 😎
I smell something that burned in my house, but I dont know what it is, hopefully the house won't burn down lol
This qs doesn't even have to be asked
