The direct translation of knight in to finnish would be "ritari", which is loan coming from "riddare" whatsoever of germanic languages and meaning rider obviously. So its rather easy to think that a knight is a soldier of cavalry, although not all knights in the old times did move on horseback but  many did. "Knight" brings to my mind an horse riding soldier, most probably coming from an elite background in society of those times.

By the way we call bishop a "courier" or "messenger" depending on the way you want to translate it.

You are looking at it the wrong way.  Whoever invented chess decided to have a knight, then chose that piece to represent it.  They didn't think 'We must have a piece which looks like a horse head - now what to call it...'

Vezir or vazir in farsi means minister or the hand of the king the
Lord-Of-The-Fleaz

it all started when kids wanted their own horse, so they could be Sir Galahad.

but the stuffed horse head at the end of a stick was cheaper and the kids were happy to be Sir Gallophead.

In portuguese queen (rainha) is called 'dama', which means 'lady'.

We decided not to question why we called the queen (rainha) with the word 'lady' (dama). In informal situations we use 'queen' (rainha).

there is a theory that Rainha (queen) was going to confuse with Rei (King). We are not creative like Americans, in which they solve problems like this using the second letter (kNight and King)

so guys, I was playing chess laying down and from that angle, I could see that that the knight piece was actually not shaped like a horse, but a knight’s helmet.

Hello friends

Most people of my country say knight as horse., but most of them knows also that it is a knight,

So,

Because of it's unique movement it was horse,. But this is also true that someone might be on that horse that why horse jump two steps and when it is controlled by a man it's stop one square.

So then it become more confusing that should it stop and where to make a move then so then L shaped movement was given to horse.. And complete movement was done by a man sitting on the horse, so later on we start calling that unique piece #KNIGHT#

Rook was known as elephant in 🇮🇳 because it moves straight , as elephant is a giant animal and can have a very bad impact if he goes mad so some restrictions is given on that piece and that is he can only move in straight direction not on diagnols..

Bishop knows as camel 🐫 in, because he is tall and can see far away, so because of his ability to see further Bishop movement is on diagnols. Also some restriction are here with this piece that he can only move on diagnols as many square he want. And cannot move even a single square horizontally or vertically.

Why does the Bishop have a cut on his head?

Something to do with the Protestant Reformation?

It's his hat, it is a Christian Bishop.
