There are about 310,000 FIDE-rated men and 33,000 FIDE-rated women (as of 2019).

With 10 times as many men as women playing competitive chess, then if we assume that their distribution of skills is identical (same bell curve) then of course the men will have far more high-rated outliers, and will extend much further into the high ratings.

That's just ordinary statistics.

I'm aware of this. I enjoy disappointing people with facts.

Lol. That’s not a fact blue emu it’s an opinion. If it was simple numbers then which ever country had the most players would have the best and the worst players. If you look at most sports that don’t rely on physical attributes you will find they are still dominated by men and we could all pass opinions as to why. It’s the same in scrabble, backgammon, snooker, pool, darts. Etc.

This quote has always had a rather delectable irony to it. Far from being wrong, it's one of the most eloquent own goals ever kicked.

That, and you don't have women studying chess from the age of 6. At least, not until recently.

Men are generally better at everything that doesn't involve giving birth or caring for children.

true

Folks should just straight up say they think women belong in the kitchen rather than trying to construct some sort of pseudo-argument. And people wonder why women don't participate as much when they get this sort of treatment.

I am now locking this thread - @a_bloodborne_hunter, @brianchesscake Please don't post any more misogynistic comments like you have: it's not a joke.
