why there's no 1v1 in the chess app?

I think this app would be more great if there's 1v1 and I can play with a friend who is sitting with me
You can play. There is option of 'Play with friend'. That is online play. If you want to play offline on the same device, select 'Play versus computer' and in player 2 choose human player by clicking on the player icon.

On the mobile apps it's called Pass and Play now and is under Custom
