I just love how Carlsen has been outplaying all these GM's in the endgame (except Naiditsch and a few others). Thats what the last generation gets spending so much focus on the openings. Novelties are fun but watching someone get endgame'd is pretty great too.

Thanks for putting those games in PGN format for us. Is this the best thread for asking questions about those games? I had a few comments and questions about game #1...

I wondered at first why Black didn't play the obvious 13...Nxf3 to win a pawn but then I saw that 14. Qc3+ wins the knight through a fork. That's an interesting way to defend doubled pawns, but those doubled pawns still look like a long-term liability to me.

26. Rxe6 puzzles me. I would have played 26. fxe6 to undouble my f pawns. White's four isolated pawns sure look shaky to me. Am I missing something?

I think 26.Rxe6 is played beacause black now not can move his queen away without loosing the e-pawn.

Ah yes, that makes a lot of sense now, thanks. Black must leave at least a rook nearby for defense of that e pawn, which reduces Black's attacking chances. Defense by counterattack, but you have to make your own position ugly to do it. Typical.

P.S.--In game #3 it looks to me like Black's problems started when he didn't take with ...dxc4, which led to his KB being blocked in with c5, which resulted in escalating problems on Black's queenside as a result.
