in my opinion the bishop is more valuable because each of them controls one color
I think you know GRAND MASTER LOVE BISHOP PAIR
Would you want the horse to be worth more than the bishop?

Pieces have value when they control many squares or are influencing weak points.
Long lasting or permanent weak points in particular are worth paying attention to.
For example a weak pawn, or weak position of the enemy king.
Get your bishops and/or knights to attack weak pawns or the enemy king and they might be the most valuable piece in your position. More valuable than even a rook or queen. It just depends.
But if you have a knight or bishop that is not doing anything... even worse, if it's blocking your other pieces, then it might be worth nothing, or less than nothing because it's obstructing other pieces.

Yeah, and if I personally prefer the knight, then wouldn't I want to make the bishop worth more? That way my opponents are fooled into trading off their knights?
But it's probably just a language barrier thing. He's trying to say which do we prefer and why.

If the Catholic church will allow horses to be ordained, maybe one day I can be a knight and a bishop

My aspiration is to be a king and a queen.

I dont want it to be worth more, but to me, it is worth more. A knight can reach all 64 squares, a bishop only half as many. Plus, a knight can jump which is a unique quality. But as always it depends on the player. Some people are good with one, but not the other. Some people are good at both. And some people are bad at both.
I prefer knights. In my opinion 1 knight is stronger than 1 bishop. However I would rather have 2 bishops than two knights in an endgame

Talking as a novice here, and I mean NOVICE!! >.< I was lead to understand that in the opening of the game, the Knight is the more powerful/useful due to the fact it can jump over other pieces. But as the pieces/pawns thin, the bishop then has the edge. I am probably talking complete poop here though >.<

Naa, that makes sense. The more pawns that are on the board, the better the knights tend to be (and the worse rooks tend to be). Also bishops are not so good without open diagonals and such. So especially early in the game, I'd agree, if either has the edge it's the knight.
Yes or no and explain why
