Since I posted this, we have integrated some OSX functions into xboard.app. Now the GTK menubar uses the native menubar, and associated PGN files as well as some of xboard's filetypes (tournament, positon and option) to xboard. And so, they can be opened via drag and drop or by double clicking on them.
Xboard/Winboard.app 4.7.2 for OSX

Xboard 4.8.0 app for OSX
For 10.7+
Available at the Winboard Forum
Aside from the 4.8.0 improvments in genneral
Changes since 4.7.3 bundle for OSX:
-Fixed many, many bugs and rough edges smoothed out
-Pid command is no longer slaved to default pieces directory. The app now accesses that directly.
-Pixbuf icons now work for Engine Output window and doc icon manipulation.
-XBoard's localization features now fully implemented
Xboard.app 4.7.2
[EDIT]For OSX 10.6 and up!
Hi evreyone, I'm the one who was maintaining the old xboard package, but due to the implementation of cairo and and it's supporting libraries, that method was no longer going to work. So I thought some of you would like to know that I finally managed make a package of the latest xboard by shoehorning it into actual .app bundle.
Aside from the ease of instaltion of an all in one bunndle, features over the old package inlude:
New GTK2 interface which runs through quartz, (osx's native graphics layer) So it does not need extra software to run like the old X11.app. (which doesn't come automatically on osx anymore anyway)
Board resizing on the fly- grab a corner and resize it to how you like.
Svg pieces - looks good at all resolutions.
And a lot more..
Unfortionatly last time I posted a link for this I was accidently banned as it was regarded as spam by the filter. Xboard and Winboard.app are at the Winboard forums under the development section and in the OSX 4.7.2 xboard/winboard.app release thread.
