Curiosity. The people who play chess intrigue me as much as the game itself.
Your reasons for playing chess?
I used to play Canadian checkers with 30 men on each side and chess.
No one plays checkers anymore it was very popular in the 60"s and early 70"s so I reverted to chess. Both games are very challenging as in the Canadian checker ehrn offered a men you must take it with as many captures that you can do both moving forward and backward, so no way out. In chess you do not have to take any piece it is a choice.
even though so far I haven't won any games I have come close I still enjoy chess I am fascinated by it and enjoy it whether I win or lose. me being continually beaten actually gives me a goal to strive for. instead of striving to be the best amateur I actually have a ton of people who are better than me. I kind of laugh when I hear people say how good I am at chess. because I know I am so far from a grandmaster
I used to do it to beat arrogant players and to compete. Now I really love chess itself and enjoy tactics problems and studying old and current master games.
