10-Days free Premium Trial - Problem

Sort:

Hello Chess.com Team!

When I logged on Chess.com today, I got noticed that I have two days to activate my free 10-days Premium trail account.

When I clicked Activate.., I will be sent to a form, where I shall fill out my credit-card information.
But I have no credit-card, and why should I also fill this out, when the 10-days free Premium trail account is free.

So my question is, how can I activate my free 10-days Premium account, without credit-card information?

I need a fast answer, because I only have a little over one day left, before the offer is over for me.

Thank you in advance! :-)

Thank you, but why shall I give any information to PayPal, when there is nothing to pay for.

The offer is absolutely free, so why shall PayPal be involved in this?

I really don't understand their system, of doing this.

You can't.

Read this thread credit-card-for-quotfree-trialquot explaining why not; and this one trial-chesscom-membership explaining how chess.com could be trusted with your credit card information - if you had one.

Yes I understand that, but why couldn't they make a function, so you also could "pay" with your mobile phone, like the mostly other websites?

They could make a partnership with OneBip.com, witch let you "pay" like a credit-card directly from your mobile phone.

I can't see why it should only be a credit-card. :-)

KasperNymand,

everywhere in the world free "premium trial" offers are like that - you have to give Paypal/credit card info as a guarantee that you HAVE THE CAPABILITY of paying and INTEND TO CONTINUE if you are satisfied with the premium services - otherwise everyone will avail of the free offer without any intention of continuing.

Trial offers are offered with the intention that you might like the services and continue. It is not for people who just want to taste it and never have any intention of continuing.

BTW Paypal is a universally accepted secure method of payment. Paypal will need a "verified account (they will need a checking bank account for that)" OR valid credit card information before doing any transaction on your behalf. It is practically available in every country (I am not sure).

Yes I know that, but who have said that I don't do this later, when I get a credit-card?

And to that I said before, with OneBip.com you also have the ability to use your mobile phone as a credit-card and then pay for Chess.com Premium.

This service is used on many other websites, as a way to pay for exp. Premium online.

This gives all the people without a credit-card the ability to buy Premium, with their mobile phones.

Additional payment methods - such as the one you suggest - would help extend the reach of chess.com.

There are 5 ways of paying at present:

  1. Credit/Debit Card
  2. Paypal
  3. Money Order/Check: Send your payment to: Chess.com, PO Box 60400, Palo Alto, CA 94306 | Please do not forget to include your username and contact information with your payment.
  4. MoneyBookers: Send your payment to moneybookers@chess.com. Please do not forget to include your username and contact information with your payment.
  5. Wire/Bank Transfer

And no one of that five ways of paying, is from the mobile phone. :-)

mobile integration is much harder, you can't do recurring billing, and they take a HUGE amount of the charge (30-50%). we know that some people can only pay that way, and we're sorry :( we wish we were an enormous company, but we just can't do everything.

I understand, but as far as I know OneBip will not take any money for it.
 OneBip is free for you!

It's only the operators who are taking money from it, I don't know about Chess.com will get lesser money out of it, but you can watch all the pricing/prices in all countries here: http://onebip.com/merchant/?mod=pricing

You don't really have to do the premium trial thing, you can still play without it so way waste money on that stuff. I mean no ads, unlimited tournaments and help with playing chess; however you can still play well and be a professional without it anyway. In my advice just save your money.

cybergirl123

Another thing is the premium thing is monthly or yearly not forever, just keep that in mind. Also why do they need our credit card details for a free trial anyway that is just wield.

accountclosed99

the op was last online 4 years ago. im not sure if he will read that

cybergirl123

I don't think he will because it has been 4 years so yeah. If he was last online 4 years ago then he must have quit or forgot about his account.
