exactly, if you are going to give out 2nd and 3rd place things then everybody who finishes in those places gets them, not just people who enter tournaments of some arbitrary number like 13.
Why again did you choose 13? Is it to do with membership? i.e. if you dont pay through the nose you cant create tournaments where you have a chance of a 2nd or 3rd place "prize" .
no, it had nothing to do with memberships. it had to do with the fact that we felt that a 3rd place finish in a 10 person event wasn't the same as a 3rd place finish in a 100 person event.

Of course they do, yes we all know that you could be a better player if you've played 100 others players to come first or second, but just suppose, four top world class players played a tournament together, would the one who came first not be the winner, would the one who came second not be second, or the next one would have come third and the fourth one would have come fourth, albeit that that he or she would have come last? Whatever place you achieve is what you should have recognised. So come on eirk. how come you can say what places need to be recognised or what do not. It's not as if you are going to have to pay out for us to actually receive a medal. So give me my second place's on my stats, and give everyone else theirs. Thank you.
I still don't think 2nd place in a tournament less than 8 people should get a medal, and 3rd place in a tournament less than 13 people should get a medal. This will end up making the 3rd place medal the most difficult to get! LOL

Appears there is a bug. A 7 player tournament, with 3 groups, was awarded second and third place medals.

Well I don't care what any of you say. If I run in race which has six people and I come second I'm awarded a second place. If someone backs on a 9 horse race and their horse comes in second they get a second place. If I come second in a 8 lane swimming pool, I get awarded a second. If run up the road racing my two friends and I come second, I COME SECOND. How ever many people are in a competition, be it any sport, or game, or quiz. Someone come first, someone comes second and someone comes third. After that come the loser's. Chess.com is just not fair.

it isn't fair, especially as gold members cannot even create a tournament with 13 players! 13 is such a bizarre number to choose with little (if I am not being cynical) thought gone into it, which is frightening consider the size of this site now - are all decisions based on such randomness?!
also if you note our comments on this subject (in this forum) are deemed so unworthy they are not even shown on the sidebar. So no one else can join in.

i'm not sure why you are so upset or why you think i don't care or what you mean by comments not on the sidebar, but we listen and we change things when we find it to be the best thing to do!

Well Dawkins Rottweller we have done our best, but is our best good enough? Should we be satisfied with Erik's answers? Should we just slink off into the background, or should we carry on the fight. After all he has come down from 13 players to 8 players to obtain a 1st/2nd/3rd place. (why such numbers I don't know). I still say however many people in the tourney we should get our place on our stats. (maybe not important to the sopper dopper players on this site but to us little folk yes it is important. I think I should move this subject into to the general forums area, let everyone join in this debate. No one looks at this forum and it's never shown or updated on the side bar . As I said not important enough. What do you think wane join me in the carry on fight, shall we throw it open to everyone else. Wad do ya think Rottweller?????
