A decent Chess.com app for BlackBerry

Chess.com is now boasting a great iPhone app, a beautiful Android app, a feature-rich Palm Pre app and still no decent BlackBerry app (and no, I don't consider the generic Midlet available to most J2ME compatible phone to be 'decent' for the recent BlackBerry devices).

The Palm one was a real surprise considering the very limited popularity of this device compared to all the new BB devices out there...

So, Erik and team, when will you release a BlackBerry app on par with your offering with the other major smartphones?

Thanks in advance.

the PRE app was done by a member. we didn't invest to do it. if someone wants to do blackberry, let me know :)

cnjohnson:

Try the iPhone or Android apps and you'll see the huge differences... Play the computer, videos, tactics, customize the board and pieces, properly navigate through your games (in analyze mode), etc.

Oh yes, and it's free to play online games with these apps unlike the generic J2ME version limited to three moves a day.

Might give it a go actually... So are you publishing or exposing some form of APIs / Web Services, REST or other to allow third-parties (or members) to build an app? It's most likely what had to be done for the member building the PRE app, right? Or the source code of the J2ME app to avoid starting from scratch and/or to get some sample calls around your Web services?

erik

we do have an API. if you're interested, message me.

And if you want to play via App not browser - I think we have a solution (if you are on BB 10). See in "Help& Support" my post "(Feb'14) An App for Blackberry that works (finally!)"
