Account Closed. Need help.

So, a bit of backstory. I had an account called 'helloiamuuuu' since 2017. I didn't use the 'helloiamuuuu' account in the beginning because I became disinterested in playing chess. I recently got back on it (a month or so ago). I also subscribed to a gold membership through the iOS app. (I had created the account on the app itself)

About a week or so ago, I tried to upgrade the membership to platinum. The payment went through on my iTunes account but the chess app didn't show any change to my membership. It still showed it as gold. I tried logging in and out, logging into the website instead of the app, reinstalling the app etc. Nothing worked. Then with a bit of digging on this forum, I found out the iTunes payment could be linked to another account and maybe that's why the changes weren't showing up? So I cancelled my subscription and then decided to create a new account on the same phone and tried to buy the platinum membership again and it didn't work. 

Finally, last night, I logged onto the chess.com website on my PC and entered my card details and my payment went through. But today, I wake up to see that my account has been closed. I tried to log into the other account I made to test the payment settings on my phone and that has been closed too. I tried making a new account with the same email but it says it's already in use. I used my secondary email to register this account I'm on right now. 

So I had a couple questions, seeing as the support team is quite busy (even though I've already put a ticket in), I just thought the forum would be quicker. 

  1. I understand my accounts were closed because they thought I violated the 'multiple accounts' clause in their TOS. But I'm hoping to get some more information on this and how I can explain this situation to the chess.com team.
  2. I'm worried that since it says my email is still in use but my account is closed, will chess.com keep taking the payments for the platinum subscription off from my card? As I have no way to get in my account and cancel the subscription, could anyone suggest what I can do?
  3. I am also worried chess.com will see this account and assume it also violates the 'multiple accounts' clause so how can I go about clearing this up with them?

I'm pretty sure that since it was a simple error, you should be fine. They'll most likely reopen it, but the best course of action was to not make a new account until you got a response from the support team, instead of making a forum.  Their not going to take more payments from your card, either. Just wait, if they don't end up paying you back you can sue them or something idk tongue.png

im pretty sure if ur account was closed they won't charge your account anymore for the membership, they can't do that, they could get sued, they are an actual company that has to follow guidelines and code of conduct. 

 

If they do charge anything after the fact, save the information and sue them. 

 

As for helping you out with your accounts, you need to wait for staff to respond to your ticket, especially because most of the staff aren't really working in the ticket system on the weekends, so give it a couple days, and they will eventually respond. 

If you explain your problems, and especially the fact that this multiple account thing was to fix a problem with ur membership, they will help you, the site wants ur money, so u dont have to worry.

 

Just be patient.

You're right. I'll wait to see if my card racks up multiple bills from them and in the meanwhile I'll send another ticket detailing the same situation to the support team. Thank you!

If you already have a ticket open, there's really no need to open another. That just adds to the load for support.
