Account hacked

Hello everyone,

my account has just been hacked today and one game has been played.

So my question would be if I can get to the person in any way at least the country (don't even know why).

And does anyone have any experience with a similar case?

Greetings to you all!

Are you sure you didn't leave it logged in on a public computer?

Robiii_9

Lol ofc he didn't win, look at this beauty, what an opening, what a play! http://www.chess.com/livechess/game?id=1289410713

And no, I didn't neather log in on a public computer nor left the account logged in.

I just don't get it why someone would do something like this. Maybe someone who lost against me? Note that I just don't give a damn for the lost rating points, I just wouldn't like this to happen again.

And I instatly changed my password and contacted chess.com

Thanks for ur answers.

Cheers from Croatia

The only way you could do a thing to him is if you had his ip, which you dont

Maybe chess.com got a log with the IP? I suppose they do since that's the standard and how things get done with web sites. That's why I contacted them.

Btw what could I do? Go to Bangladesh and slap the guy? Rofl. I just wanted to hear if this happened to someone else and what could be done, if anything (exept changing the password).

P.S. IP's at least in Croatia (and I suppose everywhere else, unless you set it manually) are dynamic so you can't get the exact location of a person.

So in that regard I doubt of some progress.

I doubt it was hacked.  What hacker would get into a chess.com account and play 1 game?  Did you give your password to anyone?  Did anyone watch you login?

No, and categorically no. I'm the only person with the knowledge of the pw (only saved at my google account, and in case of another login I would get an e-mail).

I really don't get it and Diakonia, good point. Maybe as stated above, someone who lost to me got angry? Coz there are ways of hacking accounts and pretty easy too...

Robert_New_Alekhine

My theory is that you left it logged on and your baby child logged on and played or something.

Robiii_9

Heheh that's not the case ;D

Leaving passwords online someplace like google accounts isnt the smartest thing to do.

possibilities:

  • you are trolling
  • you were drunk
  • dementia
  • multiple personality disorder
  • sleepwalking
  • computer has a will of its own
  • someone living in your basement without you knowing it
  • burglers
  • bad memory
  • you're ashamed of this game
  • you are trolling

Al least he resigned before getting mated.

Yes I know that, but I wasn't aware it would be that easy to get the information, and again how on earth and why would someone do this on a freaking chess.com account, even lower rated lol.

nobodyreally, you are a pretty funny guy but please don't troll because for you it's funny for some noob to get the account hacked, but for me who got to a (let's say) respectable level of for fun playing (and I was even in the 300 pts range) is sort of a pride and I like my statistics.

Robert_New_Alekhine

.I think dementia, drunkness, and sleepwalking are the most likely.

Why all the hate on drunks?  It was probably hackers.

The problem is that your story is extremely unlikely and totally illogical. Why would anyone hack an account, play one game and leave it at that?

That's why trolling comes to mind. It wouldn't be the first time.

Not to long ago some master was accused of blocking someone. Turned out it was his little brother who walked into the room when he was away and started effing around with his account. Such mundane explanations are usually right.

If you're serious do a little research. When was this game played? Look in your browser history, sort by date and time. Was your computer used? etc.

ps. you're sure nobody is living in your basement without you knowing it?

Google security isnt very good.

Accounts all over the internet are comprimised everyday.  It isn't unlikely that out of the millions of accounts on chess.com that it could happen to someone.

The point is: Why would anyone hack an account, play one game and leave it at that?
