I have reviewed the fair play policy, i haven't done anything listed there. it only makes sense that my account was closed for trying to play like stockfish (good moves), its really the only possibility i can think of.
now when im playing, even tho if i know this move is likely to set me up good moves down the line, im hesitant to play it b/c i dont want to be permanently banned from the site, this is messed up.

If you're playing 100% fairly, you have nothing to worry about. Trying to play like Stockfish isn't going to cause issues since humans can't play like Stockfish.

brother you're gaslighting me now, i literally was just shown i very much do have to worry about, thank you for being the only one to reply, but this makes no sense.
obviously i cant play exactly like stockfish, but by analyzing stockfish and breaking it down into multiple parts for example when reviewing game, you ask yourself "why did stockfish want this move" then follow the chain and realize "oh its protecting a future move which will force the opponent to move here which allows you eventually win material" you can kinda get a better grasp of how to plan for multiple moves ahead when presented with certain looks, doesn't always work but this is what ive been doing, and what i mean by "play like stockfish"

That's not going to result in playing like Stockfish.
That said, when the account was closed you would have received an email about your options and one of those was to appeal the account closure.

there's multiple reddit threads explaining that even if your account was falsely closed theres almost no chance itll be given back as a low elo player and its best to just move on and create a new account, that being said, I did submit an appeal but i dont want to stop playing chess for the next week while i wait for the slow response time, just for the response to be gaslighting like "if you're playing fairly you have nothing to worry about" which obviously isn't true. so what am i to do? just ignore it until the same thing happens again and I'm permanently banned from the site for no reason? also now anyone who views my old profile/ anyone i was currently playing a daily against, now thinks i was cheating when i wasn't....
is having youtube open playing music while playing a possible reason? i would like to join this upcoming club match but dont want to immediately be banned again.
nvm i now have to wait until my new account is a week old smh
That's not gonna cut it. You need to wait at least 3 months
Accusations from entitled people here are more extreme than on other social or gaming platforms.
absolutely crazy, I'm still hopeful someone will review my case and fix this, but its looking like they don't care to fix their broken algo as I'm not the only one who's had this issue. as someone who has a newfound passion for chess this is extremely discouraging, I have no clue if this is the reason but it almost feels like if you're someone who's working really hard to improve faster than average, you'll be labeled a cheater and barred from online chess, almost feels like I have to purposely stop putting as much effort in to remain on the platform. extremely lame.
It is correct that most appeals are not granted. The site doesn't close accounts unless they're certain of the reason. Very occasionally a borderline result could result in reopening an account. There are some very rare cases of false positives.

You can keep saying they don't close accounts unless they're sure but the last 24hours has proved that to be incorrect LOL
is the "cheating" in the room with us now? whats funny is im playing the best chess ive ever played on this new account lmao, chess.com pissed me off with this nonsense and now they've created a monster.
I'm writing this forum post b/c im pretty distraught after my account being closed for "violating fair play". For about the past year I've been getting really interested in chess after being taught how to play from a family member and decided to start playing online. I've been working very hard to improve as quickly as possible since i am 25yrs old and am essentially playing catch up. i play chess/ watch games/ lessons for hours nearly every day, this has become important to me. yesterday, i was playing a game of chess where for the first time i decided to play music in another tab on YouTube and my account was closed mid game( which was a very good game for me aswell ) i do not think this is against policy, but i have no idea what i did, that was, so im including all information i can think of. instead of paying for premium i simply enter my games into stockfish AFTER most games and take notes to try to learn and memorize the best moves in tough situations. i have NEVER used stockfish to give me a move during game, so the only conclusion i can draw from this is since im trying to learn from stockfish too many of my moves are "too good for my elo"? losing the account isnt a big deal to me as i can just get back to that elo fairly quickly, but having my old account be labed a cheater when i never cheated doesnt feel very good, especially as it has my name attached to it. Now im at the point where i dont know what to do, i dont know how to play any differently and now i feel like if i play good ill be accused of cheating and my account closed again, i cant just un-learn what ive learned from stockfish, any help/advice would be much appreciated.
