Alert - for updated chat

Is there an alert to tell your opponent that you have written something in the message box? (Generally, I don't return to a game-in-progress until I have received an it's-your-move alert.)  Or do you have to send your opponent an actual message or drop them a note to get their attention?

There is no alert for game chat. I you want to discuss something with them between moves, or discuss something that might be time sensitve, I would recommend sending them a site message, or leaving a note on their profile.

artfizz: Thanks for the clarification, Baseballfan.

artfizz: A couple of further questions:

artfizz: Is there a mechanism for changing the text colour/style of one side of the chat conversation so that the two sides stand out?

artfizz: Or even, putting the names in bold? With long elements of conversational monologues (when one party is offline), it becomes more difficult to track back to the beginning of each point.

(5) artfizz: An option to number each chat element would be ideal...

08:10 artfizz: or timestamp it. Either would provide a referencing framework - (useful in a similar way to having the game moves numbered).

This takes you a couple of screens away from the Messages tab (and you have to navigate all the way back).

A BIG problem, though, with raising an alert for updated chat is generating too many alerts. 99 times out of 100 when you type something in the Messages box, your opponent either is online OR you're going to make a move immediately afterwards anyway.
