I just watched a youtube video of IM Miodrag Perunovic where he played 5 games against a cheater. Out of those 5 games he lost 4 games and lost a total amount of 117 Elo.
The cheater was banned shortly after, but Mio only got 50 Elo back as compensation.
Why is chess.com not just giving the lost elo back? Is there any specific reason? This seems really odd to me...
They do, but the bump is on the back-end. When the next game happens after the refund, the calculations will use that updated rating.
