Android version requirement for chess.com app?

Hello,

which is the minimum Android version required?

The Google play page says Android 4.1+, but when trying to install the apk seeing an error like "Unable to parse the package". Since unknown sources are enabled, I suspect it has to do with Android version.

Tried app versions 3.5.6, 3.5.3 and 3.5.1. All the same.

Is there any older apk files somewhere? (Having Android 4.2.2)

Any other ideas for getting chess.com running on the tablet?

Oh, and the troubleshooting links in the app support page are all dead

Bump.

Having tried 10+ versions of the chess.com app now.

3.3.10 is the newest that installs, but does not work (Message about "No longer supported"). 3.3.21 and newer does not install.

Also seems like the fishy apk archives with (NSFW ads) seems to add some code of their own into the old versions I find. Is there any official apk archives somewhere so we dont have to risk getting viruses or spyware on our devices?

As far as I know there are no archived app versions the site hosts or has available. You might want to open a ticket to support directly and maybe they can figure out if something in the apk needs fixed to work on your Android version or if they need to update the supported level.

This is a bit older but based on the updated to the site, even if  you could get an older version to work, the back-end code it connects with may be sufficiently changed that the app wouldn't work anyway.
