Best move is not showing up in Self Analysis only Threats

Unfortunatey in the web version, the best moves aren't showing up. Even when active, only the threats if you activate that.

In the app you can see the best moves and analyze your game perfectly.

There's a Best Move toggle in the analysis tabs as well.

I have it active, but it's only showing threats but no best moves:

Does it show best moves for you?

Why is that? Was this feature added over time?

Why have two settings in two different locations that do the same thing? Doesn't that just make it confusing to the user? Doesn't that just add complications to the code and software testing?

The Android app suffers similar problems, items with identical names in different locations that perform different functions.

It's little things like this that makes the Chesscom programming staff look unprofessional and disjointed.

So, it's not clear from the OP, which tab is being used, but if Show Best Move is on for Analysis, then it shows them when in the Analysis tab. It's the Review tab that has it's own Show Best Move toggle, which makes sense as Retries aren't available if that option is on.

I have it on, but my best moves are not showing. Here 2 more screenshots:

Only the threats are showing.

I don't believe best moves show if you haven't completed a Game Review.

I finished the game review and the analysis didn't show the best moves yet, it is really strange that this feature is not working on web, as it is working perfectly in android

Do you have it on in the Settings? Mine shows the best move.

Yes I have it on. Mine only shows up when I do the game review or on mobile. But not in Self analysis on desktop.

Martin_Stahl

The apps show it differently than the website, so it won't be exactly the same.

Yeah I have it on.

same issue here, PLEASE help

David_Serra

Having the sane issue here as well.

On a Macbook via Safari, after a game review, in analysis, the suggestion green arrow is not showing.

On an iPhone via iOS app, the suggestion green arrow is showing fine.

All options are ticked, and this is on the higher membership tier.

The next time this happens, click on the Review tab and let the game review finish.

Then click on the Analysis tab (the next tab to the left). Then you should see the three following switches in the analysis window: Evaluation, Lines, and Feedback. The Feedback switch should be turned on to see the move arrows.

still doesn't work, almost certain it's just a bug with the website, amazed chess.com hasn't fixed it by now

Still same issue for me! Works just fine in the IOS and android apps, but not at all on the web version. How is this not fixed yet, I am going to request a refund of my diamond membership if is not fixed as that is the only reason I have been upgrading to see if maybe I have to pay for it, which for me is fine. I don't mind paying for a quality product that works for me, but it needs to work for me. Unreal that they have no focus on a very simple feature that somehow works in the app versions but, not on the web!

I don't think this has ever existed on the web site. To get best moves a Game Review has to be ran first, as posted by @manekapa, and then have the Feedback option on for the Analysis tab. The standalone Analysis doesn't have it.

Whether it has ever existed on the web or not is sort of irrelevant. It exists on the app. It should exist on the web. Best move is ran off of stockfish, stockfish runs with or without game review in analysis. The best move arrow is just the best move based on stockfish. It shouldn't need game review for it to overlay an arrow based on stockfish.
The way @manekapa explained it does not work the way it does in the app, just like @Angelcool038 said it doesn't work. It will show a best move arrow of the previous move not the best move to be before. Idk if this is as intended but, it is not the same as the app. And based on the many forums posts about this it is not working properly.
Maybe you and I are misunderstanding each other. Later, when I get a moment I will upload screenshots from both mobile and web to show what I am trying to explain.

Martin_Stahl

The apps and website have different development paths and plans. I don't know why the apps have that as a feature and the website doesn't but likely has to do with the fact that it takes CPU cycles to get a best move that can potentially change. The apps are very likely dropping out a low depth/strength classification to get something showing and the website project management doesn't want to have that kind of configuration.

I understand that the mobile app works differently and as far as I'm aware, there are no plans to make the website analysis show best move without a review first being ran and the best move result being posted on the board by the results of that review.
