Board sometimes doesn't show in Opera for Linux

Hey guys. Firstly, this place is a fantastic achievement. As a coder who once had to write a working two player chess game over a weekend for an assignment whilst simultaneously trying to get to grips with C, I think you've done a great job.

I'm experiencing just two small problems. I'm using Opera 9.23 (and recently 9.22) for Linux and quite often, the board fails to display. I have to refresh it a few times before it finally shows. I have checked Opera's error log and nothing appears there. The other problem is on one of my games, when I click one of the tabs on the right, the tab then appears but the whole page then refreshes, sending me back to the Messages tab. It works fine in the other game I'm playing at the moment though.

Hmm I'm also having some trouble with the word wrapping in this editor! I've had to disable JavaScript and enter the HTML by hand.

sorry to hear that. yeah, it isn't easy to get 100% browser compatibility. there are a few other people running linux and opera on this site. you should search the forums and then talk to them. :) i run FF on WinXP and it is smooooth always.

I did search for "Opera" and "board" but I couldn't find any other instances of this particular problem.

I'm also a Linux user, and I find Opera to be a bit funny sometimes...

I use FF and, on occasion, Epiphany, and have not had any problems with either (on MEPIS).  I also have Java 6 with this distro, if that helps.

Good luck!

Chewi-I meant to ask - why Opera?

I've tried it myself, and find it isn't always compatible with every site (or as good as FireFox).

I was just curious.

I've been an Opera user since 2000 and I've never liked Firefox's interface much. I haven't played chess here for months but I suspect it'll work okay next time. This text editor is now working and Opera recently passed Acid3. Cool
