Buggy position evaluation in game review on the app.

From what I understand, the app normally evaluates checkmate as ±318.0 (the website shows either 1-0 or 0-1). However, sometimes the app evaluates checkmate as +0.0. I can't tell that there's any pattern to it, but it seems to be position dependent. It also affects projections, as the app will sometimes label blunders or mistakes that hasten checkmate as the best move, because it's evaluating the checkmate position as a draw. I don't know why that is or how to fix it, but I thought I'd point it out.

I can't link it. It's not a problem on the website, only the app.

If it's only impacting the app, it still could be looked at, if you provide the opponent and date played.

If the classifications came from Game Review, those are are done server side, so an eval showing incorrectly client side wouldn't impact the evaluation of lines.

The opponent was Avi_2009, and the date was 12/26/2022. I think the evaluation does affect the lines, because it sometimes labels moves which hang mate as the best move when they're clearly blunders.

A move can be categorized as good or excellent (though it shouldn't be best) even if it allows mate, if the previous position was still losing, regardless of the move played. That's by design.

Are you on the iOS app? I'm not seeing the issue on Android.

iOS app, yes. And it's evaluating moves that straight-up hang mate in an otherwise drawn or winning position as the best move. I'd say this is a problem. This was a game vs. ballestrinque on 12/18/2022.

Can you update to the newest version of the app 4.1.6

I'm going to miss the old format. But that did seem to fix the problem.
