Can I buy a membership as a gift?

I already have a membership and I have a friend who plays a lot but doesn't have a membership.  Being Christmas time I was thinking of buying him a membership, but it looks like all I can do is purchase more(?), or an additional(?) membership.  Can I gift it once it is bought?  If not can this become an option?

When you get a membership for yourself you can cancel it wihtin a month with total refund. But can you gift someone with a membership and cancel it within a month like if it was a regular membership, or in this case it can't be canceled?
