Can't login to Chess.com app?

Hello, for the past couple of days I have been unable to login to my account through the Chess.com app on my android. Is this a bug that has been happening recently? I tried uninstalling the app and redownloading it but that did not help nor did clearing the cache. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Did you try other network ? Wifi or mobile data?

Tried both wifi as well as the extra data Verizon gives with my plan.. no luck

I'm having the same issue. Well, I was logged in, but Tactics was acting funny (slow to give a point result and slow to allow me to move to the next puzzle) and today a move sat there pending. I tried clearing the cache, then finally uninstalling and re-installing, but now I can't even log in using the app.

Now that I recall the only thing that came up was my game in progress before I couldn't login at all.. usually it has the tactics, daily puzzle and a lesson there too. I could get into tactics but had to go through the menu instead.

Yes, today I had to go through the menu to get to Tactics as well. Yesterday, it seemed a little slow before it showed up on my home screen, but today it wasn't there at all.

And to clarify, the pending move was in a daily game.

Only two moves were showing, when I actually had 11 to make, those I made kept showing pending, and not registering. The app was crashed. When I uninstalled, I was not able to reinstall as Google Play says my device (Galaxy S3) is not compatible with this version. My App is gone for good. I don't know how to install an older version as only the updated one is available.

It lets me download on my s4 but just spins when I try to login.. the password is correct just spins and then nothing :/

i'm logged in but my games are not updating and my opponents moves are no longer showing up. it just says "pending" next to each game where i last made a move. is the app down for some reason?

Hi. Facebook changed their API so that older Android devices (4+ years old, usually) can no longer login. Also, those older devices do not have the latest SSL updates needed for the latest secure login, so when our infrastructure was upgraded, some devices are now unable to connect. We are working on a build to fix this for older devices, and expect to have news in the next 3 days.

Thanks for sharing. The beta version now works for older phones. (It wasn't working last night, but I just updated my app and could log in.)

Thanks, @Erik! I'd hate to think I would need to spend ~$500 to keep using certain apps. This is more of a fault of the device manufacturers not being able to provide updates rather than that of the app developers.
