Can't request to add a friend

I can't make a request to add anyone as a friend anymore. Is this some kind of account restriction? I never saw a notification of such. I would like to know what I allegedly did and how long it lasts (if this is some kind of restriction).

chicken, I think this may be a bug.  I'm going to try to add a friend and see if it works for me.

Never heard of that but if you have too many outstanding requests, you can't do more. Go to your pending requests, remove some old ones, and try again.

well I was able to click on add a friend and the request is pending.  Are you saying you don't have that icon or that it is greyed out or missing?  

The add friend link is still there, but when you try to click it nothing happens.

How do you remove outstanding friend requests? I don't know how to get to my pending friend requests. I'm sure that over time they have accumulated since some people don't accept or decline.

Find your friends list. On the menu, find connect, click on friends,   Scroll down below your friend's look for words friend requests click on it and your pending friend requests should show.

I went to Connect->Friends.

I don't see an option for canceling pending friend requests, even when I scroll down. Either I'm just a dumb chicken, or this GUI is not very user friendly.

just go to the profile and cancel i guess thats also kinda simple

i don't know which profile. i probably have a bunch of outstanding friend requests from years or a long time ago. I am not going to search through 300+ "friends"

OK, after extensive research I found a link you can paste to go to your pending friend requests. I would like to know how to do this via the menus though. Does ANYONE know?

I had this happen to me back in the day when I was the W* of Babylon and sending friend requests to everyone I played and accepting all comers. The W stands for Wombat, of course. I tried to tell you all that the number of friends you have on chess.com is not going to score you girlfriends or make you seem like the popular cool kid.

Am I supposed to lock this thread somehow now that my issue has been resolved? I'll probably have to make another post or open a ticket to learn how to do that.

Members can't lock topics. In general, topics only get locked if they are forbidden or go off the rails. You should be able to just let it go, and it will likely just age out.

Do you get this message if your account is not activated yet?
