Can't search or add friends in chess.com Android app?

Been using the chess.com Android app for a few days now, but I can't find an option to search or add friends? (I mean people who I know are chess.com members already, and I know their usernames - not sending email invitations to new people to join chess.com)

This feature seems to be available in the iOS version, but not in Android? Or am I missing something?

Unfortunately this isn't yet available in the Android app. It is on the wish list of future features however. For the time being you will need to browse to the site to add friends. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Well I can't serach for friends on Windows 7 it comes up with “This page has been temporarily disabled.”

Try the following. To request someone as a friend go into Share/Invite friends.  The pop-up screen is for multiple friends, so at bottom of screen clicked "add/invite a friend".  In the next pop-up screen just entered your user name and (if I remember rightly) a further box appears to enter your message text.  None of this is very intuitive!

No that is to send multiple emails to invite someone to join chess.com.

make sure you are using this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chess&hl=en

and in there, go to Friends, and then + to add!

That's true but if they are already a member of chess.com then you'll be able to add them as a friend.

I had posted a similar request... the app should AT LEAST indicate that the feature is not available when invoked. Many players become confused when attempting to search for others (even with known user names etc.) and are unable to find them because the Android search app merely answers with a blank screen. Feedback would end this.

In addition, the ability to search through the forums (in the Android version) is also NOT AVAILABLE. And, in a similar vein, the app does not report that the function is not available. I was searching for info in these forums before posting (so as not to double-post) - but got the blank screen of death.

Anyhow, look forward to the updated Android version. Keep in mind, contrary to popular belief, the Android world is FAR larger than the Apple world. Smart developers would concentrate on rolling out the platform that suits the highest percentage of users first...

10 years later, still can't add or search for people who are not on your "friend list".

Go to SOCIAL then MEMBERS to search for people not on your friend list.
