Challenge appears as new game

At the end of a recent daily game my opponent challenged me to another game.

I just closed the pop-up window and did not accept the challenge.

Now when I go to Daily Games it says 'current games 0' but there is a chessboard there with my previous opponent now playing black and me white and an icon over the chessboard with a + sign.

I don't understand if this is a new game started or a challenge.

there is no tooltip when I hover over the + sign and I don't want to click on it in-case this starts the game..

I have not moved yet. There is no hours countdown like 23 hours left to move so I guess this is not an actual game?

I don't want to play this person again.

So has the game already begun or is that just a challenge and if so how do I decline the challenge?

If I am white and don't move will the game just dissapear since you cannot win or forfeit points without at least 2 moves I think (?)

The link on the new chessboard says

https://www.chess.com/daily/seek/14919365

so does the 'seek' in the url indicate that this is still just a challenge and not an actual game underway?

Also there is no little red '1' on my Play menu indicating an outstanding move and I am white so I guess this is not a game yet.

If anyone can tell me how to get rid of the challenge much appreciated.

^ I don't want to open it in case it starts the game!

I might just try to ignore it until it goes away!

Does anybody know how long until a challenge disappears by itself?

I follow directions as given by chess.com & google while I am looking for where "Play ... Open Challenges" disappeared to: Hover "Play", click "New Game", go to "Open Challenges" ... oops, no "Open Challenges" et al screen, only a full board & pieces, no button or text which brings such up. I exhausted all possibilities around the board & pieces (taking my chances) except for the big green "Play" button. I guessed there was, or might be--hidden--some "Open Challenges" and/or "Accept/Decline New Game." Wrong. I was thrown into a game, even though I immediately killed the entire computer session. It was there when I came back to chess.com.

Sometimes the above "Click 'New Game' " gets the board and no evident "Open Challenges", sometimes it gets the "Open Challenges" screen pictured in the October (14th?) 2020 Google/Chess.Com Support article. So behavior is not even peculiar consistently. Can anyone (1) explain these behaviors and the inconsistency (BTW I updated my browser; that's not it) or more importantly (2) tell how beyond the 10/14/20 Support how to get to "Open Challenges" consistently?

Good luck. To all of us.

For Live Open Challenges are listed under Custom Game

For Daily, I'm not sure where they show anymore. They used to just be on the Daily Chess page. In the Android app they are in the same place as above.
