Cheater is not getting banned. platinum member

I beat this player he made so many blunders, I think his accuracy was like 67% or something. He asked for rematch and crushed me with 97.4 accuracy. As the game was going on I asked him if he was cheating because the tactics looked like engine moves. He admitted to cheating. He beat me two games in a row with insane tactics and pure computer moves. He messaged me later to rub it in my face and admired again that he cheated. I don’t understand , is he not getting banned because he is a paid member?

Premium membership status has nothing to do with whether or not a member gets closed.

If you reported the member, fair play staff will decide on what to do based on the account and the likelihood they have been using disallowed resources.

So how come he isn’t banned? He admired to cheating. Not hard to make a decision there the game speaks for itself. Not even gym’s can play those type of moves

if you are paying and have a good reputation within the community you usually have immunity to cheating bans unless its extremely obvious

i know a few cheaters who have admitted it to me and they still live among the forums due to good reputation and they are a paying member

Yea for sure. So many people cheat chess.com would loose way too much mo way if they banned every cheater. This guy blatantly cheated and admitted it and nothing happened . I can’t believe it. Makes me not even want to play anymore. The messed up part is that now whenever someone plays phenomenal moves and gets themselves out of a bad situation I automatically think they must be using an engine.

If you don’t want to loose money and memberships at least give them a couple of warnings but give us our points back

And the sad part is that you feel like you can’t even talk about it because they tell you “we”ll handle it. Report it” and then close the thread lol. It’s like they don’t want this subject to be talked about in order not to bring light to the fact that there are so many cheaters. In order to protect the money . But idk , I feel like now I might not even renew my membership , so maybe not handling the problem and trying to hide it, will make them loose more members and more money

playing on lichess gives you a much healthier mindset. you arent so worried about losing 8 elo from a game or losing -2 from a draw and you are on chess.com. the community on lichess is much more peaceful and less hostile and is not as closed on talking about cheating as chess.com is . also lichess is not pay to get better, also the studies, puzzles, and other supports are free and are great for learning/researching openings

look where he admits it. smh...

This is absolutely not true. The site closes both premium and titled players.

Saying they did and actually doing are two different things. It's possible they did and staff will handle if their checks indicate such.

If you have reported, then it's up to staff. That all said, discussions of cheating, potential cheating, or cheat detection are not allowed in the general forums and since this is attracting additional commentary on the subject, I'm locking.
