Chess analysis during and after game

Could someone point me toward an explanation of the analysis feature? My main questions regard (1) the numbers to the left of black, gray, and white bars as well as the bars themselves, (2) the bars and the numbers themselves (likelihood of winning, something else entirely?), and perhaps most important, (3) the use, fairness, reasonableness, of using the analysis DURING a game. Much appreciated!

Does the DURING-game analysis show up only for the opening?

Hi Paul, I'm enjoying our current Daily Game.

Did you get anywhere with these questions elsewhere? You are playing through a browser right, like Chrome, Safari or Internet Explorer? Because I don't see those bars on the iPhone or iPad apps, but I do see them when playing on the browser.

I do not use any analysis during a game. I have used the opening book reference when I wanted to try a new opening but beyond that I won't consult an outside source.

Thanks for the response! I'm enjoying out game and learning a lot. I'm using both the ipad and iphone apps. Here's a screenshot of the analysis... I notice now that it only gives the bars and potential moves up to the fourth move, shown here.

As someone very new to the game, the post game analysis has been very helpful!

That's cool. And it means I totally missed the point of your question because I was not aware that you could enter analysis mode on the iOS devices during the game. I am playing on iPhone, iPad and browsers (Chrome mostly). I don't think they would put it there if using it was unfair. In the browser it doesn't show the bars, just the move list (unless I am missing something - see below). However if you are playing against the computer it gives a white/black bar that shows which side is winning. I will have to try it out.

Those aren't analysis bars. It's a database. Those are win/loss percentages derived from the results of the games in the database, not from calculation.

Note the little numbers just before the bar... 591, 29, 10 etc. Those are the number of games in the database in which that particular move (Nc6, Be7, Be6, etc) was played. The bar gives the results of those games.

Example: 4. ... Nc6 was played in 591 of the games in the database, with 40% White wins, 39% draws and 21% Black wins.

It's not a prediction... it's exactly the opposite: a history.

FYI, I don't think the analysis module is available in rated games.

The analysis is available in Daily games, just not the engine. Or that should be the case.

Perhaps for paid members. Not for free members.

... and as mentioned above, there's no analysis involved. Just a database summary.

Sorry, by analysis, I meant the analysis board.

Hello. Can anyone tell me why I am getting a red star on the analysis icon everytime I am opening a running daily chess game to make my move. I generally analyze every game after the end of the game. I dont use analysis during the game. Then why there is a red dot prior to every move. Did I inadvertantly changed some settings?
