Chess.com Voice Commentary Chrome extension doesn't work?

Here an explanation of what lead to the previous post.

When one opens an ongoing game by clicking a game under Today / Playing Now, the URL is like

https://www.chess.com/play/online?action=follow&member=KNVB

The URL then redirects to the actual game, like

https://www.chess.com/game/live/16453487763

This opens the new interface, and the voice extension does not announce the moves here.

When one clicks now Play / Live Chess, the URL changes to like

https://www.chess.com/live#g=16453487763

This is as I understand the old interface, and here the voice extension is working.

There are two Live interfaces. The extension was made to work on https://www.chess.com/live

It probably won't work on https://www.chess.com/play/online which is the newer interface.

Will the 'old' interface go away at some stage? What happens then?

I think Chess.com should add move announcing as a built in feature rather than relying on an extension that could easily become outdated

I have no idea but my understanding was they paid someone to write that extension a while back, that wasn't on staff, and would either need to dedicate staff resources to update to fully work on the new interface or write a new one from scratch.

But yes, at some point the old interface will be retired.

Are you able to flag this up as an action with them? I'd hate for the old interface to go before there is a way of getting the moves read out in the new interface. It's make the DGT interface pointless.

@Martin_Stahl For playing with the DGT board, one needs the voice extension and the connection to the board in the browser.

With the new interface, both the voice extension and DGT board connection do not work.

To have the voice extension support the new interface is probably not such a big problem, for somebody did this for free. This improved extension works on the new interface (but not on the old when I tried).

Can you please check this and tell if you can support this concern? In case please also check that playing on chess.com with the board is an official feature.

I made a simplified version based on the original official extension. Install link: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/chesscom-voice-commentary/mjmamkihdmfkogidombgdaepnikajemc/

Works quite consistently for me. Please give it a try.

Do any of the three extensions currently offered for chess.com voice commentary (regular, improved, simplified) produce an icon that allows you to adjust the voice? I've seen an icon flash on the bar but it didn't stay. I'm still working to get my board working. The videos I've found don't match what I see.  Does chess.com require two tabs open like lichess?

Voice can be adjusted by the computer volume.

To make the DGT board work for chess.com, you need to run the Live Chess software (https://www.livechesscloud.com/software/) and turn on the option in board settings. No need to open two tabs like lichess, but seems not to work as well as lichess.
