We are not injecting viruses into our members.
It's most likely that your computer is infected by something already. That is not from Chess.com.
Live chess doesn't even use Java. I suggest you disable Java.
I DO NOT HAVE JAVA ON MY COMPUTER!!!!
CHESS.COM IS TRYING TO HAVE ME INSTALL A PROGRAM THAT LOOKS LIKE IT'S AN UPDATE FOR JAVA. THE PROGRAM IS A ADWARE/VIRUS!
Who are you ERIK to claim it's not from chess.com. Look at this line in the javascript code
function msgOkBtn() {
window.location.href = './Installer.php?mid=&dv1=10924150&dv2=06143&dv3=CA&dv4=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.chess.com%2Flive_chess_ad.htm&kw1=Firefox';
It is clearly a reference to chess.com and CHESS.COM gets the AWARE BENEFITS IF I WERE TO INSTALL THAT PROGRAM!!!
Chess.com obviously has no control over the ads they are showing. It's a security risk to use the internet without add-ons to your browser like Adblock Plus and NoScript.
Also, look at the javascript for live chess. It has the following:
<iframe src="//www.chess.com/live_chess_ad.htm" style="width: 160px; height: 600px; margin-top: 8px;"></iframe>
See the words live_chess_ad.htm are the same as in the VIRUS/ADWARE javascript!!!
This proves that chess.com sends false advertisements to players for them to upgrade their 'JAVA' when in reality it's nothing more than
to install VIRUS AND ADWARE!!!
Looks like a fake to me. You may have malware generating this popup.
http://malwaretips.com/threads/fake-java-update-redirects-pop-ups.19593/
Do you have any screenshots of this for comparison? I've just seen your other thread, and yes, it's definitely a fake; it bears a striking resemblance to the ones in the above link.
Who are you ERIK to claim it's not from chess.com.
He's the owner of this site, so he should know.
So ERIC!
What are YOU ! doing to investigate this!!??? I have given you the PROOF that this is coming from chess.com. Look at the javascript function that is referencing the chess.com live play frame - live_chess_ad.htm!
It appears that either chess.com is doing this directly or one of your advertisers is being allowed to do this.
You keep using vague language like 'most likely' and 'live chess doesn't even use java' yet you fail to respond to how a web page can have the chess.com frame referenced in it. Also, you fail to respond to the video I have recorded as well as the javascript I have shown!
Do you think your the ONLY software developer on this site?? I can provide some EXACT explanation to Erik's "vague language" of "most likely". I just "googled" the definition of "most likely". It said the most likely definition of most likely IS most likely. I don't know how to make it more EXPLICIT than that. Let me try this-- SEE SPOT RUN Its a good thing you didn't give chess.com some of your hard earned money. I once gave them money, and then my kids couldn't eat for 3 weeks. I don't think there's EVER been a case where a software developer got a virus, Do you?? I'm launching an ivestigation into this as we speak, and I DEMAND that the ENTIRE internet become VIRUS FREE before I let my kids out of the house. I've never met this Erik character but I've seen his picture at my local post office. They say he's armed and EXTREMELY dangerous. I don't have military training so I would stay away from him if I were you.

And what are YOU doing to investigate a potential issue on your computer? Did you bother to research this at all? The malicious software dynamically generates the code the runs the fake update screen. It can happen on anywhere on the web. It has nothing to do with chess.com or any other site.
Try this and see if it helps:

ROTFLMAO!
Someone's been drinking the red punch... STAY AWAY FROM THE RED PUNCH! IF YOU HAVE DRANK THE RED PUNCH PLEASE VISIT THE RED CROSS TENT IMMEDIATELY!
I'm getting this every time I try to use Chess.com. My anti-virus protection picks it up and removes it straight away, but it is a nuisance! I am not having any problems on other sites.
Because its a gaming site, it may be a little more suseptable to viruses but that doesn't mean that viruses are coming FROM chess.com. There are perfectly good clean porn sites that have viruses, but the site is not sending them to its members. BTW, the OP hasn't been on line for 4 months.
I have to say I notice really bizarre system resource usage when I visit chess.com. I haven't inspected it, but it seems EXTREMELY suspicious. I have drawn no conclusion to whether it's intentionally malicious, poor quality programming, or advertising related - though any of those seem pretty unacceptable.
To be perfectly honest I saw the youtube video you posted and that is most likely a fake chess.com some links mask themselves as other sites and one more thing remember to check what's the full link.
I love chess.com but it has been eating up my CPU and memory like crazy, even shutting down my systems. It is ONLY when I visit chess.com that these symptoms arise. I tried looking into what JavaScript they are running on my client, looking into the cache that is being stored , but there is just too much data to sift through. I don't have time for that. All the symptoms my systems are having relate strongly to a virus/malware issue coming only from chess.com. Chess.com is probably not the culprit. There are ways to hijack DCN, MITM attacks, etc that could make their current platform unsafe. If they are the culprit, then it could likely be a misdirected way to try to circumvent adblockers.

It's now been over 13 hours and no official response. In the mean time, I was conversing with Staff member hicks83.
Below is my conversation. Basically I found irrefutable proof that chess.com is sending adware/virus programs to users.
IN SUMMARY: CHESS.COM IS SENDING ADWARE/VIRUS TO USER'S COMPUTERS! MAKE SURE YOU SCAN YOUR COMPUTERS WITH A GOOD ANTIVIRUS PROGRAM! IT MAY BE THEY ONLY SEND THESE FILES TO THE USERS WITH FREE ACCOUNTS! BEWARE THOUGH, IF THEY DO THIS WITH THE FREE ACCOUNTS, WHAT WILL THEY DO WITH YOUR CREDIT CARDS!!!!
