Is this for live chess or online games?
ChessKid.com no players
Hi thanks for getting back to me...
Okay - Blitz (so live)
I have just re-tested from his logon
If I select 'Play Blitz Chess' it takes me to the url: http://www.chesskid.com/simple however I get an
'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage' message
If I select 'Play' -> 'Blitz Chess' from the menu it takes me to:
http://www.chesskid.com/livechess/ and this is where I see:
There are currently 0 players online!
Thanks again
Shaun

Thanks Shaun, yes i'm seeing Chesskid live chess as being offline aswell. I've let the team know about this so they can look into whats happened.
The server is now back up. Thank you.
Thanks - I I tested from my son's account and can now get on but there are no other users online...
This has been down at least for a couple of days, how active is ChessKid.com?
I am looking for a safe/age appropriate site for my 9 year old son to play chess
Thanks again
Shaun
I was also looking at the benefits of Gold Membership... but links from
http://www.chesskid.com/membership.html?c=upgrade
to Chess Mentor e.g. http://www.chesskid.com/chessmentor/ is broken?
Thanks again

Chesskid.com does not get the publicity that chess.com gets. For starters: Chesskid.com almost has no members because it is so hard to find them on Google. Also, a lot of kids prefer to play on Chess.com rather then the lonely Chesskid.com. I think a lot of the players on Chesskid.com are only sons and daughters of Chess.com parents. Chesskid.com, you need to get bigger on Google.
I have checked a couple more times today and although it is up, no players online :(.
The fact that it was probebly down for a few days would seem to indicate that it is very under used. So do I create an account for him here and just pretend he is 13, I can turn off chat but he could turn it back on. I have already seen chat that I would not want him to see...
ChessKid seemed ideal, but it does need to be active.
Shaun
EDIT: If the stats on ChessKid 'Players - Live Chess'
http://www.chesskid.com/livechess/players.html
is correct 472 players total is not enough for him to find an opponent when he wants to play.

If you make him an account here, you must remember to disable chat, prohibit the forums and blogs and do not let him join the chat room. Try not to give him much contact with other players. This site seems to have a lot of nastymouth players. (Nothing against Chess.com, just it's members).

I'll mail you on this one

It would also help if there was a link on chess.com's front page to chesskid as my daughter use it rarely I always have a problem finding chesskid.Next time I lock in I will bookmark it if I remember :) ,but it would also make people click on the link so there were more players.

Good thinking. Replace the Chess University link with a Chesskid link.

Wait...so if chesskid.com takes off and all the children leave chess.com, does that mean we can return to creating the vile debauchery I miss so much?

Maybe......
Perhaps there is some problem my end?
I have set up an account on ChessKid and created an account for my 9 year old, he has done a few of the tactics puzzles but there are never any players online for him to play with?
I originally thought it was perhaps the parental control on his machine but it does not work from my machine either...
Any ideas?
Thanks
Shaun
