Chessnut Air - for playing against computer bots, did not work anymore!

Hello.

Since yesterday i cant use my Chessnut Air to play against computer bots in chess.com

The last days and weeks it works like a charme.

I tried it over my Windows 11 Laptop with USB Cable and with my Iphone over Bluetooth.

When i play with a human opponent it works.

Also when i use lichess it works against computer!

So i think Chess.com must modified something yesterday...

Any ideas?

I'm havng the same problem with my chessnut pro via chessnut app. It looks like the app and chesscom don't comunicate any longer, though the board is connected and seems to be synced.

Have you noticed the color of chessboard icon in the upper right corner ?

Mine is gray and i'm pretty sure it used to be green before.

I asked staff and they're not aware of anything that changed that may have caused an issue.

No until now i did not find a solution to use my chessnut air on chess.com to play against computer bots.

yes on my iphone the icon in the upper right corner is also now grey when i play with an computer bot. when i play with an human opponent it is green!

i have wrote to chessnutech. i am interessed what they would answer to this problem.

Do you use chessnut android or IOS app ? I'm using the android app and I have the same issue against human opponent:, not only bots.

I've been using the board with chesscom flalwlessly for a couple of months, until 3 day ago. Something must have changed in the past 2 days.

On the other hand it still works flawlessly on Lichess.

I am having the same issue with my Chessnut air. A couple days ago it worked great. Now, I get nothing against the bots -- just "game unavailable". I tried on my iPad, iPhone 13 and mac and they all didn't work in the same way. I bought the thing to play the bots. From what Chessnut tech said to me, it appears that chess.com has changed something. Anyways, I was about to pay for my Diamond membership and I cancelled it because I want that functionality. So, they are losing money because of it. Fair is fair and I don't mind paying, but I want to be able to use the service. If Chess.com is listening, I think you are going to lose customers if you change things like this and take functionality away.

Hopefully there is a fix at some point and I may come back as a customer.

Same here. I also bought a my board to play against chess com bots.

As of today it is useless.

Same problem here, it simply does not do anything. I was thinking about the board (Chessnut pro) to be defective, as it shows the same issue with Android and iPhone; now I know the board is fine (phew!). There have been no updates in the last few days from Chessnut, therefore something has changed on chess.com...
Hope they fix it soon, as it is kind of annoying.

It's very possible that the Chessnut team is going to have to update their code to support any changes the site may make.

I'm having the same issues with MacOS and Android apps. I contacted support and received the following message:

"We have escalated the usage issue you encountered to our technical team. Upon receiving their feedback and conducting testing and analysis, it appears that chess.com has imposed certain restrictions, causing some features to be inaccessible. We are actively working to find a solution, but this fix will take some time. We appreciate your understanding in this matter. We will keep you updated on any progress. "

I don't know a lot about the limitations of the Chess.com API, but Chessnut should have some relationship with Chess.com. At least be on good enough terms to be updated on breaking changes.

While the Chessnut team tries to resolve the app issue, i use my laptop instead of my smartphone, and installed the chrome extension to play on chess dot com with bluetooth.

It works great, just need to reconnect every time you change URL.. but it's quick.

Thank you for sharing your work and the effort you put in. I have installed the chrome extension on my laptop using windows 11 and have also enabled two flags for the auto connect feature. When I click on the button displayed on chesscom page, Bluetooth connection gets established and the battery strenght is displayed. As soon as I load the play against bot page the board reconnects automatically but all the red led on my board light up. At this point no comunication happens with chesscom when I attempt to move a piece. I have tried playing against both humans and bots with the same result.

Is there something wrong with my configuration ?

Maybe juste white and black sides are inverted ?

White pieces on the bottom of the board with LEDs and connection on the right side.

Any one else has the same problem or is it just me ?

Try the other way : invert the pieces colors and see

yes on the iphone it now works again against computer bots!

on my laptop with windows 11 it is still not working...
