considering becoming a paying member and currently using the 7 day free trial.

Have reviewed a lot of the user agreement etc;  lots of reading for a dyslexic---but am curious:

Should Chess.com close my account, for any reason, will I receive a pro rated  credit back to the credit card I used to join?

I think it pretty clearly states that if your account gets closed because you violate the fair play rules, or otherwise break the agreements regarding site use, you will not get a refund.

Then why was a member that admitted to having an account banned able to transfer their membership from the banned account to their new one?

The site reserves the right not to refund or transfer memberships for TOS closures. That doesn't mean that will always happen.

According to @justbefair and the screenshot he/she provided of the policy "Refunds will NOT be given to subscribers who are banned from the site due to violating the terms and conditions of site use (abusive behavior). I does not say " The site reserves the right not to refund or transfer memberships for TOS closures" I'm not trying to be argumentative but your response makes it sound like chess.com selectively enforces policy. If what you are saying is part of chess.com policy could you provide a link to were it says that?

Posted policy may not always get updated to match changes to processes. Of course, IANAL, but I don't believe that phrase requires the site to never give refunds or transfers fo accounts closed for TOS violations. Pretty sure they a legally allowed to be less prescriptive, just not more than stated in policy.
